    Default GW Motortrike Adventure.. Rear Tie-down Points ???

    Hi All....

    Underneath the rear of the GL1800 Motortrike Adventure kit..... where would you best hook onto to tie down to the trailer? I have an Aluma TK1 trike trailer.

    Would it be the solid frame piece that the bike's trailer hitch is welded onto? I don't see any place else to place the strap hooks except on the bike's trailer-hitch bars which are welded to that kit frame bar... and I don't know if they would be strong enough.

    The front tire has a Condor type grab-chock and then a strap will be wrapped around the wheel tieing it to the chock also.

    I've pulled this same trike/trailer before several times - just did not partake in the actual tie-down operation myself.

    Any info appreciated....need to hitch up Saturday afternoon.

    Carla, the trailer hitch is the perfect place to attach to.

    I've always used a strap on each rear wheel. Most wheels have slots to run the straps thru. You can, as I do, "X" them... left wheel to trailer right side, right wheel to trailer left side.

    This way, the trike still has the rear suspension working... to bounce when you hit a bump. If you try to pull tight from the hitch or frame, a good bump can cause the suspension to lower (momentarily) and loosen your straps. Perhaps not a lot at once, but each little bit adds up.

    Second that, I also do the front wheel that way when it is in the wheel chock, lets the suspension work, a lot easier in straps.
