Thumbs up Indian w sidecar in the near future.

Hey everyone. Not sure how many of you might remember me. I was very active on the forum in past years with a Valkyrie MotorTrike and later, a Goldwing Roadsmith.

Well, now I'm finally getting my Dream Bike. An "Indian Vintage". My plans are to put a Hannigan Sidecar on her hopefully one year from now. I'm picking my Indian in the next 3 weeks out-of-state. Can't handle the expense of buying the bike and doing the sidecar all at the same time. Already spoke to Larry down in Kentucky at Hannigan and have all the information I require.

At my age, I shouldn't be wishing for time to pass quickly. But it's gonna be a trying year waiting for that trip down to Kentucky for the sidecar addition.

So in the meantime enjoy life on 2 wheels then. I'm still undecided on sidecar versus trike conversion or just skip the whole thing and get a trike already done.

Decisions, Decisions....A year gos fast' meanwhile you'll have that time to dot the ''I's'' and cross the ''T's''...I've always thought about a sidecar rig...But at this stage of my game i'll just admire them from afar and stay with Trikes...

Let us know about your progress as the year go's by.....

Hey Rich, glad you to see you back, congrats on that big Indian plan. Bet you can get the Mrs. in that fine side car.

Yep. It's been some time since I've been on two wheels. But I'm lookin forward to it. Already been watching the "Ride Like A Pro' videos and also plan to take one of their courses down in Greensboro N.C.. And don't get me wrong, I "LOVE" Trikes! But with the Indian Vintage, a sidecar adds even more of a nostalgic appearance to it coupled with the fact that if at some point in the future, the sidecar can be removed and return the bike back to two wheels. Can't do that very easily with a trike conversion.

    Hiya Bill!!

Great to hear from you! Not only is my wife on board looking forward to a ride in a sidecar, my youngest aunt (she's 77) also can't wait, lol. She's up in NY and will take the trip down here to VA for a ride. And she stated the following; " And I don't want any little ride around the block. I want some seat time in that thing!" lol

Done right priced right ready to go. Polaris is not for me or I would have purchased it. Meeting with Larry May 23rd on our way to TN.

Yep. That's a great price. Mine will be a bit higher taking into account what I'm paying for the bike and having a two tone paint job with some minor pin-stripping.

It is surely done right. On my RGU it pretty much looks like the Classic Twin will be the right one for us. That is why we are stopping in. I want to see the classic in person.

Beautiful when a plan comes together, not only does the wife approve, but the 77 year old aunt who want some 'seat time'. I recall the Mrs. was not into riding the RoadSmith.

I try my best to ignore the Polaris part. I wanted an Indian and unfortunately it wasn't until they came along that they made one that I could afford. So stop reminding me Polaris is at the helm.

You're correct. Her doctor didn't want her riding the Roadsmith due to the straddling seating position. The sidecar is just like sitting on a regular seat as in a car. She doesn't have to climb up or swing her leg over the bike. With the Hannigan sidecar, all you have to do is lift the windshield lid, open the side door and just walk in and sit down. She can handle that.

Others and myself had a lot of bad relation with Polaris. They seem to forget about the warranty soon as their ATV's are delivered. As far as the name on the bike , I ride with anyone

Well I didn't and I still think what they did was just wrong wrong wrong. If they had dumped that ugly Vision years ago I'd bet good money they would have sold more bikes. That engine was and is a sold sucker that deserves to be on the road giving HD headaches. I had a Victory Cross Country Tourer on my very short list of bikes to buy when I finally got my Indian. Ride and fit and finish was the only thing that made me go Indian over Victory and even then I was second guessing myself until the day they just dropped the Victory line. Suddenly I felt better.

That is why we are going with the Twin classic. The flip up cab will make it easier to load handicapped grand child in. She is getting bigger and heavier , getting her in and out of her current hack is becoming harder.

The Heritage is a sharp sidecar

Some ''A'' Hole at Polaris thought it was a good idea for Victory to team up with Aren Ness...Victory's iron frame bikes were selling , But the George Jetson [Ness] styled bikes kept people from even walking into a Victory showroom ...

Polaris's money is in off-road vehicles, And i would suspect that like they did with their Watercraft and Victory divisions, The'll do the same with the slingshot and Indian...If they start losing money on them...

Big issue here with Victory was no parts and failure to do warranty repairs. I hope those buying Indian do not run into the same issues, On my Polaris ATV the did not honor warranty from day one when it was delivered and would not start. Excuse after excuses.

Well I'm not going to worry about Polaris dropping Indian now. I got mine and it's out of warranty anyway so any good mechanic can get most things working. What does bother me is there are some things that stupid Digital Wrench or whatever they call it is needed for. And until they let independents have those things I'll be sorta lashed to a Indian dealership. But until I absolutely have to see a dealer they won't see it. For this reason I hate these computer controlled bikes but love them at the same time.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

Indian , Harley, Honda, Ford,Dodge Chev, even some lawn mowers now. They are all great now days . They run and run but when the magic smoke comes out of the electronics you are in a jam. Been getting more and more like that every year. We get more trouble free miles out of them all now. Old school is a myth. But when they need some of the services done they got you.
