Trunk Lock wont release
2017 Harley Davidson Tri-Glide
Locked the lower trunk. Now when Insert the key to unlock nothing happens. Key spins the push button which will not engage with the release mechanism. Registration and insurance cards are in there. Hope I don't need them any time soon.

Mine is a 16, but I assume they haven't changed the junk trunk lock yet. I started having trouble with it sticking when I locked it and unlocked it. Last month prior to leaving Florida I tried to force it a little to get it unlocked and the whole thing pulled out. The good news was I could get the trunk open, the bad news was we were leaving in a few days and my dealer didn't have the new lock parts.
They got the parts in just in time and replaced the whole assembly. According to them it is getting to be more and more common.

I had issues with my 15, but, I finally started a maintenance of putting lock lube in the lock every six months. Never had issues again.
+1 on Warrantee, since it is under warrantee, get the Company to fix it.

Same here....regular lube does wonders!
With all the lock problems I'm reading, I'm surprised that a aftermarket supplier doesn't have a replacement.

Be careful with lubes and locks.Some have a carrier/solvent that washes away the very lube you apply.I like Dri-Slide, good for cables and guns too.

Nah. They'll just re-design a new improved part and live in ignorance until the new improved part begins to have problems. Kinda like going from the EVO to the Twin Cam and now the M8. There were deficiencies in each that the new improved model addressed but lo and behold the new improved models introduced deficiencies of their own.Thanks for the thought! Gonna leave this one to HD to keep replacing them under warranty...they'll eventually get it right...well, maybe.
