    Default Hot Ride

    Rode to and from Phoenix, AZ yesterday. The return trip home was in the heat. It made me realize one thing real quick. The Cat needs to go ASAP. My plan is to also change to a Velocity stack air intake/cleaner and add a V&H FP3 tuner. A coworker will remove the cat from my stock exhaust saving me $$$ and I hope to wake the engine up a bit. Any thoughts?

    That worked with mine. Cut out the cat, V & H wide oval mufflers, Stage one air cleaner running the K & N cleanable filter open with just the cap cover, and V & H Tuner. Huge difference in the heat and how it runs. Love it but be ready to give up some gas mileage.

    Nope. Did the decat on my Dyna.No change.Hot is hot.Added FP3,twin slash slip on ,SE air cleaner.Much cooler.As they say your results...well you know.

    I only find the heat to be annoying in the Summer for some reason, But i cant get enough of it in the winter for some reason....Especially when its below 20 degrees ....-

    Removed the cat on my 16 Tri and it did help some at idle sitting in traffic,but these beasts are hot.More performance after the air cleaner change and tune,but any heat reduction is good.

    Did the cat, Screamin' Eagle slipons, K&N air filter, and FP3 tuner on mine. Progress of events:

    Cat remove--thought I felt some heat reduction. May have all been in head, but as long as my head thought it was cooler I was happy. Sound increased.

    K&N filter--did not see much difference.

    Screamin' Eagles--lost power. More sound. less fuel mileage.

    FP3 tuner--thought it was some cooler still. No real power or mileage improvements.

    Thunder Torque Inserts--Skeptical at first. Lost harshness in sound, but still much louder than stock. Gained power. Average mileage went from 30-31 to 34-36 combined city/highway. No heat improvement.

    If I had it to do over again I would probably go with V&H pipes and slipons with the FP3. But money is already invested and I could not recoup it to cover the cost of the new items.

    I added Fans, it helps on the stop and go with heavy traffic. Put my foot up on the peg and the air blows under my leg. Works good for me.

    Why bother cooling down the engine on your bike?

    1. It will last longer
    2. It will be more comfortable to ride (less felt heat)
    3. It will have more power (enough that you will feel the difference when you twist the throttle)
    4. It will get better MPG

    IMO, the Love Jugs is the best money spent

    Instead of blowing HOT air down on top of the transmission AND IMO blocking the oncoming air flow like the HD fan does ( Why does it cost so much from HD) ever wonder about that?

    I leave mine on whenever I am riding, it has made about a 50 degree drop in engine temperature
