Progresive front springs 2003 viper goldwing

Hi guys

2003 goldwing csc viper new kit

bought new to me 2003 trike candy orange , my questions harsh front end, do progressive springs & cartridges or stock?

It seems when i adjust at 25 spring takes bumps better , i am 300 lbs but there is no more than 25 on spring very stiff , have normal spring 650.

Progressive around 325.00 worth it?

If it was me, I'd ride it a bit before you spend the $$ ... you might find you get used to it.

I'm confused. You talk about harsh front end. Then you describe the rear CSC spring rating.

If front end is harsh I would first determine if anti-dive is working. If traveling 15 mph and you squeeze front brake hard does the front dive some under control OR, does it move very little? If it moves very little then I would suspect the anti dive system is locked up; not uncommon. To test, take apart the anti dive plunger and repeat. The front end should dive quite a bit. If that's the case then i would disable the anti dive and add stronger springs.

If you're talking about harsh ride on rear then you will need to determine if shock preload is working. You say best ride is at 25 which is highest setting. Does the preload adjuster start making noise like its working immediately when you start from "1"? If not, then you first need to add fluid. Search for several articles on here on how to do that. Then try changing the preload and see if makes any difference.

You might consider taking trike to CSC certified installer and letting them go through the suspension system. Might be money ahead in the long run.

harsh front end, sayin rides best when preload set all the way to 25 , gives smother ride, don't get me wrong, i love trike, have put 4000 miles on it , so , wonder if switch out with progressive cart& springs would help harshness?

i will check anti dive , makes perfect sense ?

If I remember correctly, Progressive does not recommend their cartridges for trikes with raked front end which yours probably has. A call to them might be your best bet.

When you set rear preload to 25 and you say ride on front is better, is that with just you at 300# or also co-rider?

Also, is there any way for you to contact previous owner to find out if he modified front suspension? I weigh 245# and have the Traxxion cartridges and springs they recommended for our weight with a six degree rake. Mine rides as well as a trike can.

Also, what tire are you running on front? what pressure?

Again, I think a visit to a CSC installer and maybe a call to CSC might be your best bet. It may keep you from spending unnecessary dollars and/or making mods you don't need. Just saying.
