I moved mine back 3 inches and yes I use the filler pad to fill the gap. My wife says it feels wonderful!
2011 FLHXXX Street Glide loaded with Ultra extras. Freedom Shield Windshield, Mustang Seat, Kromewerks +2 Handlebars, Passenger Arm Rests, Kuryakyn Multiple Position Passenger Foot Rests, SE Air Cleaner, Vance & Hines Slash Cut Slip-ons, Fuel Pak Tuner, Rivco Tlr Hitch, DK Oil Relocation Kit, Tank Lift Deluxe, and Comfort Lift.
I mounted mine on my 2016 TGU with the DK kit and set it at 2 inches. I did use the Kuryakyn pad. The only problem I had with the Kuryakyn pad was the factory screws were just a little too short. I got a couple just a little longer and some SS washers at Home Depot. I was afraid the factory screws would be so tight it would cut into the pad material. I am very happy with the two inch location. I do not ride 2 up any.
16 TGU Mysterious Red / Velocity Red. FM Ceramic Head pipe and FM E-Series tunable exhaust. PV Target Tune-AT WB Tuner. DK Outlaw 606 AC with EBS, Ward’s FCS fans. DK Custom Oil filter/Cooler relocation kit, Comfort Lift and 14 inch shocks. DK tank lift, wind deflectors, floorboard extenders, and tour pak relocator. Chrome TGU wheels. Bad Ass Lights tail lights. Lighted controls and Krome Works 2+2 narrow handle bars.
Moved mime back 2 inches then took the stock filler to a upholster and had him add 2 inches to it,cost me $25.
Running it a full 3" back with the Tour-Pak Relocation Kit. Since we run a sheepskin seat cover, it covers the gap. But if we were not running the sheepskin, we'd use the Kury #8742 filler pad, or sew one up similar to it.

Thanks Kevin, I should get your kit today and plan on putting it the full 3” back, have also ordered the kuryakyn pad. Does the tour pack stick out past the bumper?
WOW! 3 inches farther back? Is that just if you have a passenger? I'm thinking on just 1' to be able to reach the seat hold down screw. That area is filled with way too much wiring and relays for my modulating brake lights. I can't get a screw driver down there now so I just leave it unscrewed. Where's it going anyway, right?
If I still had the stock seat I'd probably be OK, but I have the H-D Road Zeppelin air seat and it's a bit larger.

My wife rides with me 90% of the time and it is kind of tight for her now, so moving it back 3 more inches would make it more comfortable for her, and you are right the seat screw is a bitch to get in and out
I originally moved it back 2" but when I installed the brake and turn light from DK I went ahead and move it the full 3" back.
We will be doing a trip of at least 3000 miles this summer and I wanted her to be as comfortable as possible.
I also installed the Kuryakyn filler pad and it works great.
I also went with longer screws to bolt it on.

I used the DK kit and bumped it back 2". I then used the Kuryakyn filler pad. Worked out perfect. Be sure to cover the trike body with towels or something and get help placing it back on.
Just installed mine Saturday and carried the wife for a ride she likes it but I have not addressed the space yet.

Got my kuryakyn pad today and installed it, fit perfectly. As other people have said you need to buy longer screws, 1” 10-24 thread. Put the new pad on top of the old one for extra padding, looks like factory.
2018 115 anniversary Tri glide, 2 +2 narrow sweepers, DK comfort lift, DK tour pack relocation kit, pro action shocks, power vision, fuel moto air cleaner, s and s mufflers
my 16 didn't need it with my mustang seat, but as usual MOCO changed the game plan. on my new 2018 with my mustang seat - I now HAVE to move the tour pack back the dimensions have changed. and speaking of seat screws - they changed the threading and it took me 15 minutes to get the screw in it's so tight
Am I the only person who rides without the seat screw in,, 130+ k on my ultraclassic and it never gave me a bit of a problem, same sofar on my trike.
Read my other post. I also ride without it. I can't reach it with the H-D Road Zepplin air seat. Where's it going anyway??

I installed the DK relocator kit on my trike. Set it at 2". Bought the Kuryakyn filler pad. Wife loves it. On the matter of the seat screw. On the new 2019 Trikes, They have 2 1/2 to 3 inch knurled end screw, to make it easier to remove the seat to adjust the shocks. Was wondering, if the screw fits the older tri glide models? If they sell them separately?
