Went to put the Stallion in “R” this morning and the shifter slid right off the post!! The electrical connection for the O/D came unplugged as well. Anyone have this happen to them and how do I fix this??

Went to put the Stallion in “R” this morning and the shifter slid right off the post!! The electrical connection for the O/D came unplugged as well. Anyone have this happen to them and how do I fix this??
I've not heard of this before and actually I'm having a hard time trying to visualize this. As many times as I've had tge hood open, I just can't figure out what came apart. Did you take any photos ? I guess I need to go open the hood and look to see if I can get a better understanding

Shifter Photos
Here are the photos of my shifter. As you can see, it has slid completely of the shaft. I am assuming there was a blocking clamp at the base to prevent this. I'll need to get a hold of Stallion to see how to fix this. also, the press button on the handle is broken and will not stay in. For further info, the little knob at the top of the shifter shaft compresses in which unlocks the shifter to move from gear to gear. I have it in park right now for obvious reasons however, the indicator says neutral. This will be fun I think or very simple! LOL!!
That round dot on the face of the shifter plate pops out
That is a shift inner lock so you can get it out of park
You can stick a key in there or a small screw driver

Oh, it will still shift. You see the little inner shaft that is sticking out? That compressed in and engages the shifting. I could still ride the trike but, no!!
At the bottom of my shifter is this white plastic looking collar which moves up when I press the side button on the shifter. It's not the easiest to view so I'm wondering if that has broken off or the shift handle just came out. As far as the plastic plug on the front of the shifter, that's for unlocking the shifter as Jack stated but, opening the hood and pushing the silver looking button is much easier and also the button that using a screw driver makes contact with. It might be worth a trip to a Ford dealer to ask the opinion . Like you said, it could be an easy fix. Also above the button you should see where the overdrive wire connects. Tomg

Stallion states, "We received the shifters fully assembled directly from Ford. I can't recall ever having a shifter assembly disassembled at any point during our production, because of this I'm afraid we can't accurately answer your question in regards to assembly". "As far as Ford application, the shifter used in the Stallion is from a Ford Focus (2007)".
Oh my......I feel a trip to the Ford Dealership here in Denver is upon me. The problem is, none of the Dealerships will even look at my Stallion. They run me out. Hopefully I can find a private Ford mechanic and get this fixed.

It looks like there is a retaining screw that holds the shifter in place that "fell out" at some point which is why your shifter came loose. I also looked online a bit after seeing your post here & found the attached Ford "breakdown" from a dealership parts list which confirms this also. I'd say you should only need to order a new screw to replace the missing one and you should be up & running again.
I just checked mine and it was okay. That is a allen head screw and it is a 3mm metric. Standard sizes will not fit correctly.
