No offense taken at all. Today has been one of them days where my wife came home and said "well which one, make up your mind and go get it". Whatever I get WILL be raked.
Man am I confused on what trike to get now. I have rode so many and I have been keeping good notes on all of them but this is my first trike and now I keep thinking, should I start out with a newer one or one a few years old? I have rode two wheels for over 40 years so I feel I have paid my dues on a motorcycles but what about trikes? I know what I want and need on a two wheel motorcycle but I also know I don’t know enough about trikes to get what I want and need the first time around so my first trike probably will be just that, my first one. NOW, I am thinking of buying a mid 90 model to get my feet wet instead of a 2006 model. I am sure after riding a trike for awhile I will begin to know what I want and then I can move up to a newer model, if I am not happy with the older one. Is this the step that others have taken or did you know what you wanted before you got your first trike? How many are riding the 1500 and happy with them?

Duck, I opted to trike a motorcycle that I had already been riding for several years and had adjusted (seat, highway pegs, risers, new handlebars, etc) to "fit" just right for me. I've continued to be comfortable with it on three wheels.
I agree with Comanche...... whatever you get you will fix up to fit/suit you, and you will fall in love. I think you should assume you will want to keep it for some time, so pick the bike/trike that you believe will meet your needs for that time and then go ahead and fall in love with it! If I were a great mechanic, I wouldn't mind the older bike, but as I'm not, I would lean toward the later model if I were in your place.

I agree with the above post, U are thinking way tooooo much.... I have a 1500 and love it, but to be honest I have never ridden a 1800.or a Harley Mine is a 2000se and when I got it they were just coming out with the 1800's and I did not want a 1st year model bike. They are trikes out there just find one for U, I think too u might want to check with Bazooka, sometimes he gets trikes on consignment??? or he might know someone with a good trike for sale... never hurts to ask...
good luck in whatever U do... U will enjoy it and so will ur corider...

Duck, I had lots of help from folk but in the end had to make up my own mind. I have a great 09 Harley Ultra that I kitted up for myself so thought why give away what I have enjoyed putting together? Champion have come up with a brake kit and I like their product. There are at least a couple of folk who probably have been in touch with you about their kits, and if I were in America I would easily have gone with either. But I am not, so really there were only two choices for me and I have made mine. Live dangerously, assume you will enjoy the experience and go for it. If you really need to look at your choices, do a SWOT analysis. For each make and your life situation write down the STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES and THREATS each choice presents and you should have a clear picture. Good processing. You do sound like you're over-thinking it, which is something I tend to do. When I find that happening, I step back for a few days. I NEVER make the right choice when I'm feeling like you are.
From a practical stand point, if your budget allows it, get the newer one. Why spoil your first trike experience with an old machine that may need work?

Duck I did the same thing you seem to be doing.I owned a 1500 and decided I wanted a trike.I bout drove everyone that knows me crazy looking and talking and asking ouestions that I couldn't even remember the anawers.I finally decided on a MOTOR TRIKE kit and have never regreted it.
Have you considered a VW trike? you can have one made to fit YOU
Remember when you say mid 90's 1500 that there will shortly be a parts availability problem due to their age,,,
Look for a mid 2000sh 03-05 1800 if your going to trike it or a trike in that range there are some good deals out there right now due to the economy......
