Whats the future of Trike design ? Any design dreamers ?

Do you wonder what the best design will be in the future ? I made some parts for Polaris and respect the Vic engine, but also too hot for me. Not the future but how about a HD VRod trike with a seat you can travel on ? Tilting motorworks made a Vrod trike. That could be a rush on that motor however it seems unaccepted like the dirty cousin. Have we reached the end of bikes to convert ? It's a long time since the grand GL1800 of 2001 and since 2010 some think its been diminished by company accountants. Are we going back to flames like fashion trends ?

My wish is smooth strong dependable pretty and not so hot and hard to work on. I don't want to spin 7000+ RPM's unless I'm flying. Many of us appreciate a good sounding motor. But that varies with age craziness and mechanical minds.

What will we see ? What do you want ?

Only time will tell. R&D to bring out new models is expensive and sometimes a gamble for the manufacturers. A v-rod trike is a great 'Commuter Trike' it doesn't seem to be something I'd want to ride on a long haul. Yamaha intro'ed the Star Venture Transcontinental, I'm sure the conversion companies have looked into it and gave it some thought. But their main focus seems more geared towards the Goldwing and larger HD touring bikes. There are conversions for smaller bikes like Sportsters but do they sell in the volume that the larger bike conversions do?

After the last Baby Boomer has retired and bought their trike, will the following generations have trikes?

That's my thought on it.

If we’re just wishing here..... a 2-wheeled vehicle - and it drives and rides like a 2-wheeled vehicle - that doesn’t have a kick-stand and won’t tip over AT ALL, under any circumstances (well, unless you hit a trip wire and flip it).

Maybe something akin to a hovercraft or the like, whereas when the power is turned off it just settles upright, gently, and is kept absolutely level by,,,,I don’t know,,,,something,,,,I’m sure the engineers could figure it out - maybe even a hydraulic center stand that could be put up or down at the push of a button - or better yet - some force field that the government would take out of its secret files and share with us!

The storage would be a much larger top trunk - remember top heavy would be ok as it can’t tip over at all - plus a lower trunk that is not as wide as a standard trike trunk, plus saddlebags.

It would not have a clutch. Would have reverse. Plus all the other modern electronic gadgetry as they have now.

Yeah - I know - keep dreaming....

All great inventions started out as dreams.......ThumbUp

Does the heat do that to ya Carla!

My Choice

Trikers Rule ! How about a Tiltingmotorworks trike with Gyroscopic so if we have to take the ditch it will resist and correct tipping you off. TMW has auto lock vertical for slow city driving.

Here is my first dreamers choice 3 landing wheels can make it a trike. BMW boxer or 4 cyl. BMW hover.jpghoverBMW.jpg

Nice pics of the three wheelers designed for no passenger, but then, how many trikes out there in demand for only the driver? Do like the aerodynamics, look, rear fenders are not sails, bug and rock catchers maybe trike body designers will take note. Yes, I like what CSC is doing with the DCT 2018 GW, that's the only folks I see doing anything with DCT. I know very little about the Canam Spyder except what I read, but I do like the body design, an auto up shift, but that's progress.
