    Default I need a 2009 windshield..

    Hello,

Does anyone know if anyone is supplying windshields for a 2009 Stallion? I already contacted Thoroughbred Motorsports and they no longer have a supplier for windshields.

    Thank You,

    Greg

Thanks for suggesting F4 Customs, I just called them and they told me they don't carry them and don't know of anyone that does. They recommend I call the manufacture in Tx and I told them I already had without any luck. So for all you Stallion owners out there. As of right now if you break your windshield plan on running it without one. I'm still hopeful but not holding my breath.

Long rideshields LRS Is another one. Unless you can get someone to mold a few using yours as a template. Other than that I got no other avenues.

I'm looking to buy a 2009 but it doesn't have a windshield so I'm trying to research and buy one but I'm not having any luck and I'm not going to buy it if I can't locate a windshield for it ahead of time.

Greg those windshields were custom made to order for Thoroughbred Motorsports. If they are out then there is a problem. There is not an after market supplier ever identified to this forum. With only about 900 units made I do not think anyone made one other then for Stallion. MAYBE Richard will jump in here and advise who made the windshields and then you can contact them to see if they can make one. Just be aware it will be expensive. Other wise maybe try to see if a parts Stallion is around.

maybe TomG will ring in on this , he knows the guy that was making the side vent cover's , but as stated also as the low number that were built having a mold built to make them would be costly,,,

This seems like a worthwhile post to chime in on & fill in the "gaps" to the situation. Plus since most Stallion owners are on this forum it'll give the vast majority the "back story".

The company that made the windshields for the Stallion went out of business several years ago (they were a fairly major mfg in the aftermarket windshield industry for quite some time). They did send us the mold for the windshield prior to closing their doors (which we are grateful for!).

We have been out of windshields for a while now for the Stallion & have contacted several companies that manufacture aftermarket windshields & to date there are two "hurdles" that have been the constant.

#1 - They don't have the tooling or equipment needed to produce a windshield as large as the one used on the Stallion & will not purchase said equipment without a very large pre order of windshields from us, IE. think 1,000 or more.

#2 - There have been a few that have the equipment and will produce them on a low quantity volume, however their price to do so is astronomical. To the point that I don't think anyone would even consider paying the retail pricing for a windshield (in excess of $2,000 is all I know, I don't know how much above that price point it was).

There are companies outside of the country that have the capabilities to make them, but they also require a minimum order that is prohibitive, and when you factor in the tariffs, transport by ship, etc it would still be priced outside of the vast majorities budget.

Most of this is "behind the scenes" that the public does NOT hear about or "see", but given the posting subject & chime ins to it I felt it would be best to shed a bit of light on the "big picture" and the issues encountered in sourcing a company to manufacture replacements on a low quantity basis.

Just a suggestion. I had a golf cart windshield made at a plastic shop. There were a few complex bends in it. I would suggest going to some places like that to see if they could help you. Rick

    Default Suggestion

How about rallying the owners here and get a commitment on a bulk order, priced right of course and find someone to make a run on them. I’m in just to have a spare in case.

Even if every Stallion owner ordered a windshield that would only be a little over 800 if you consider that a few Stallions have been totaled or whatever took them out of service. Even if as Richard said getting it made for that low number at a reasonable price will be tough.

I did a google search and there are several manufactures that make custom windshields. Here is just one of them. http://www.racingshields.com/ It doesn't cost anything to call them and ask if they can do something for you or see if they have any suggestions. I'll bet several of us would be interested in a spare, if it was reasonable, just in case. I would definitely check into a scratch resistant one. Rick

I just spoke with Peggy at Racing Shields in IN. this is her email if anyone wants to contact her directly. She will be the one to contact since I have already spoke to her. peggym@racingshields.com What she told me is if someone that had a Stallion and would be willing to remove the windshield from it and could take or ship there windshield to them, they would try and fit it to mold that they already have and if they have a mold that stallion windshield fits to they can produce windshields for us in the price range of $400 to $800 each, but they need a windshield to start from or if they can get the original mold from motor trike then they can reproduce them from that.

She also told me that windshields like the one on the stallion don't last forever even if they are garage kept and under a cover. She said that with in another 10 years most if not all of the 2008 to 2010 Stallions that are still out there WILL be looking for a new windshield.

She also told me that if they have to start from scratch and make there own tooling that the windshields will start at $5000.00.

I'm not the person to do all of the research needed for this but from the way it sounds it is something that is going to be needed to look into some time in the near future if all of you Stallion owners out there want to keep them on the road.

This is the most promising thing I have seen on the windshields. Seems that TBMS has exhausted all other options, it would appear that they would at least check into this.

Thanks Greg for doing the footwork on this.

Thanks, I hope that someone takes this further than what I have. It would be nice if TBMS would get together with racing shields to possibly get something going on new windshields or even if racing shields became our new manufacture for the windshield and TBMS wouldn't have to be the middleman taking a percentage for themselves.

TBMS owns the mold. I sure hope Richard chimes in and helps us out. If we could keep the price around $500.00, or less, that would be great. Rick

I hate to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't count on the price being in that range. When the windshields were mass produced for us they were $700 retail (shipping was always high simply because of the size). I can't say what "cost" was even then (I don't have access to any information in regards to cost, etc). We do have the mold (sort of); it's on its way back to us from the last company who we had look at making the windshield for us & couldn't. In order for them to provide a quote since we don't have any in stock the only way is for us to send the mold for them to evaluate & determine if they could accommodate. We are hoping to find someone that can keep the price below $1500 per windshield (but it hasn't been promising to date).

    Greg,

What you've found has ultimately been the "norm". Due to the size & unique shape new tooling has been the commonality for the great majority of companies. Even ones such as the one linked above, while they do have capabilities for large materials such as construction equipment, their current molds aren't set up for the aggressive curvature that the Stallion windshield has. With their potential price point if someone had one to send them I don't see a down side (especially if they can offer direct sales & meet that $400-800 price range!); but I wouldn't hold my breath too much either as it's very likely they'd have to have new tooling, etc to produce it.
