Zuma laid to rest
Well,, sadly we had to put Zuma down a couple of weeks ago. He is the German Shedder sitting on the TG in my avatar photo. He had some issues that advanced very quickly so it was the best thing. Pretty amazing how these animals become such a part of your family. It was very hard and still is, but getting better now. We had a great 9 years from this very smart, wise ass, and devoted Dog. He made us laugh a lot and did a great job guarding us and our home. He was a good Boy.

Yes they do... Even right up to the last breath he trusted that I was doing the right thing as we sat on the vet's floor together with his head in my lap. Thanks for the thoughts and responses all of you. I know there are a lotta pet loving people on this site. We all love our critters.

So sorry for your loss of Zuma. We've had several dogs over the years, and it breaks your heart when they go. Now, thru a strange turn of events, we are home to 4 "rescued" cats - one with only 3 legs.
In kind of an opposite turn of events, my friend, who was 75 years old and lived by himself in his own house, recently passed away in his sleep and wasn't found for about 2 days. His Shepherd dog was on the bed with him waiting for him to wake up.
Makes me sad just thinking about it.

Been there also. Had to put our wonderful Dalmatian down in 2011. She was just two months shy of her sweet sixteen birthday - quite advanced age and very unusual for the breed. I'm not ashamed to admit I shed quite a few tears and it was awfully sad around the house for quite a while.Originally Posted by Trent
