    Default Go on the bottle?

    1996 GL1500SE / 1998 Lehman GTL trike, 3.08 rear gear.

If I were to add a booster (Nitrous) ….

…. 1 or 2 small tank(s) in trunk or hidden under seat sound OK?

Just looking to add power for high mountain passes, pulling "Wife Unit" and trailer, or maybe just to dust a friend on his 1800?

    Default Nitrous

I think the engine could handle it for a little while, but I think the clutch would be instantaneously destroyed if the driveshaft remained intact. Adding 40-50 HP is like getting hit in the rear by a car.

    How about a self-propelled 50 HP trailer ?????

Well, it was somewhat "in jest" but the prior owner of a truck stop near me did have a GL1200, a HD Superglide equipped with Magna-Charger smallish superchargers. Dave said he and wife were on a camping trip out west and stock HD just ran out of steam in some roll-ons with some buddy of his on a Z1.

Met the guy one day that ran a body shop in Roanoke that bought the 1200, said it was real hard to control at WOT in 1st or 2nd.

I also heard that the Truck Stop's owner also had his 1500 so equiped.

Once a few of us were talking and the idea of an aux power unit in a trailer behind a trike came up. LOL.

I don't think there is any room under the seat, the gas tank is there.

I also agree ... the clutch and driver shaft would take a pretty big hit.

Thought I would chime in. The minute you add Nitrous to any motorcycle, 99.9% of the insurance carriers will cancel your coverage. It’s not worth the risk, however there are carriers out there that will insure your machine providing a strick inspection be done before hand. Just my professional opinion as an accredited motorcycle appraiser.

Thank you for your "professional opinion", if anyone would know that about dropping/canceling insurance, it would be you for sure, (being an appraiser) that is good info to know..thanks again

I do have one quick question to ask though, if a owner trikes out his bike, does he have to get it inspected???????????? Reason I asked, is no one came to look at my Goldwing, after I triked it out, I just called my insurance Co. and they accepted that it was now triked.. (I did send them a copy of my receipt, and all expenses occured during the triking process) so that may be the reason....

    Good morning Ronnie,

The reason the insurance company that you utilize never asked any questions, is because you gave them copies of all the receipts and other related charges with references to incurred expenses. Trikes here in Canada is only now starting to come of its own, as in the USA because you have longer riding seasons they are more common and most insurance carriers are familiar with them. This is not the case sometimes here in Canada.

When I do an appraisal on a trike here in Alberta, it is in two parts so that the insurance company understands where I am coming from with a value. By doing so there is no questions on the back end if in event of a loose. The other issue is check on your insurance policy with regards to the exact endorsements and ask your broker what exactly do they mean if in the event of a loose. You might be surprised to some of the answers!

    Thank you Rick,

I will call them today, and see what they have to say (thanks again) I do have, not only my trike insured, but my home, and two car vehicles with the same company, and have been with this ins. company for many, many years... (thankfully, never needed their services though)
