Default Big Guy and DK Customs 14" Pro Action and Comfort Lift Combo Package

I'm ready to pull the trigger on new shocks for our 2017 Triglide. Pretty much sold on the 14" Pro Action combo from DK Customs and have a question. I'm 330lbs and the spouse is 130lbs, we carry approximately 50lbs of gear Most of the time. I'm curious if this combination of weight is to much for the 14" Pro Action Shocks? I'm ready to order and see they are offering free shipping at the moment so could save a couple of bucks.

Yes, that is no problem for the shocks at all. They will easily give a full premium ride quality up to 700 lbs rider/passenger/luggage.

When we are loaded for a trip, we have a combined weight of about 450 lbs and have the shocks adjusted not even halfway thru the pre-load and damping settings.

Ordered the shocks and comfort lift this morning. I'll report back once installed and I get some miles on them.

We appreciate your business, and I believe you will be very pleased with the improved ride quality.

I just finished setting up your shocks for you a while ago. They will ship out this afternoon, or in the morning at the latest.

Thumbs up Update on original thread

Wantto update you all on my opinion of the 14" Pro Action and Comfort Lift Combo Package.

Laura and I have put on about 700 miles with this setup. Kevin set the shocks up according to the data provided and it was darn near spot on. We ended up adding one more rotation of spring compression. We played around with adjustments this way and that way to find the sweet spot. We are happy to report that this combination is by far the best modification we have done to any of are bikes/trikes.

If your on the fence about spending the cash I suggest you save your pennies because it makes the trike a totally different machine. Laura and I could not be happier.

Thanks DK Customs. We are happy customers.

Cookr21 I agree with you, the shocks are a must have on the Tri Glide. I’m going to change the front end suspension in the future.

Adjusting the shocks them self is extremely easy. Use the allen wrench supplied with them and loosen the top collar allen screw. Turn the collar down or up one rotation and re-tighten the screw.

The easiest way for me was to jack the trike up and remove the rear tires, (I'm sure others may have different and possibly easier ways). Makes the top collar and allen screw easier to access. Due to me having a J&S trike jack this was easy. Entire adjustment process took less than 30 minutes. I ended up doing this process 5 times to make sure Laura was happy with the best ride we could get. May sound strange but I enjoyed the process and know we got them set up best for us.

Laura and I have enjoyed the much improved ride.

I was hoping for easier&faster way as i would like to be able to adjust we wife was not riding

I assume turning collar up would make for softer ride

Correct on your assumption. Turning the collar up is a softer setting.

I can tell you that riding either two up or solo with these shocks in the same setting is significantly better. With my/our style of riding I would not or do not change the settings for solo riding.

If I was to take off on a 5000 mile trip solo I might mess with the setting to see if adjusting the shocks helps the ride. (Mainly because I like tinkering with things).

I'm very happy with the ride at its current setting rather two-up or solo.

Just got back from Sturgis and talked with George at Pro Action. Super nice guy. I have them on the trike from Kevin with the 14" set up. Husband Jeff was so impressed with George and the way the trike rides that he got a set for his Electra Glide. They set him up and had him do a test ride. Then adjusted them some more and had him go out two more times until things were spot on. As to your adjustment I bet just reaching up and clicking the dampening a click or two with a dime will be enough. This can be done one the trike while it sets on the ground. That little screw really makes a difference. On Jeffs Electra Glide it was a little firm on one of the test rides. George actually INCREASED the pre load and turned the dampening down one click and it made it softer. We both are very impressed with these shocks and now have them on both bikes. George from Pro Action also said he recently pulled open a set of these shocks with 68,000 miles on them. There was no noticeable wear and even the oil inside still looked good. They will last a long time. He also said they are totally rebuild-able and are made just outside Pittsburgh.

Once you get the collar in the "sweet spot" (which we try and do before it is even sent to you), then the 14" shocks have such a wide range that whether 1 up or 2 up, you are good to go without having to adjust the collar anymore.

Some folks may want to adjust the clicker, which is a 30 second deal (as Tammy mentioned) when significantly changing loads.

I ride my TG with the 14" TSS solo quite a bit. When Mary rides with me, I change nothing. When we go on our trips, 2 up and loaded down, I change nothing...it is the same setting as when I ride solo.
