Well, my oldest son has backed out of going to the rally due to numerous issues.

So we have 3 total going. We are having a lunch planning meeting tomorrow. I told them I'm not much on planning road trips. I like to pack properly, prep the bike & hit the road, but they are insisting.

I left STL in drizzle this morning, but it quit within the hour, but cloudy all day.

We made it 540 miles today to the other side of Oklahoma City & plan on about the same tomorrow to Albuquerque. Then Thursday morning a few hundred miles to Durango.

I will post pics of the bike/trike, both GWings & 1 with a CSC conversion later. It's gonna be a hot q tomorrow. My Freewheeler is running well, so far.:Dorag:

Day 2 we went from Oklahoma City, ok to Albuquerque, nm. Another 510 miles.

Day 3 was a shorter 230 mile day from Albuquerque to Durango, mainly on US 550 & it was some of the most, scenic riding I have ever done. Simply beautiful, but hot. It's 92 in Durango.

A lot of the vendors & events are at Durango HD.

I just found out that the owner of Quaid HD in Lima Linda, CA was coming out. He's a great guy & a good friend of my son. He gave me a great deal on my FW.

There is already a lot of bikers here.

I have figured out I'm getting to old to do over 500 mile days. My FW ran fantastic & climbing to 7,000 ft elevation, I noticed no change in performance.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

We left Durango on Sunday morning & headed north for some amazing riding. The forest heading north was beautiful We took some side roads to get back to Interstate 70 east of Denver, avoid the city traffic & ended up just inside Kansas in a town called Goodland to stop for the night, a 470 mile day.

Monday turned out to be a long, tough day. Traveling ease on I70 Labor Day Monday was the toughest head & cross winds I have ever encountered. The mileage on my Freewheeler dropped to 31mpg (from 39) & I could not believe how brutal it was & my riding partners, on a 2007 Goldwing & a 2017 GW with a CSC conversion kit thought the same. We were planning to stop for gas & I ran out 6 miles short of our scheduled stop & my spare quart of TrueFuel 92 octane proved to be a life saver. We were stopping every 200 miles to be safe & I could not believe I only got 182 miles out of a tankful.

After that it was fuel every 100 miles at our 10-15 minute rest stops. I will be getting another quart of that stuff. I had it plastic & bubble wrapped in the trunk & it saved me.

This turned out to be a monster day & it was very hot/humid in west Kansas, but got better going east.

We were going to stop on the other side of Kansas City, MO; but made the decision to press on and get back home, vise fighting morning rush hour traffic. Leaving Goodland, KS at 6am, the time changer back to CST in about 15 miles & I arrived home at 8:30 pm, after a 650 mile day. I have not done that in about 40 years & wont again.:)

Total trip was just shy of 2,500 miles. The only vehicle problem was when we stopped for the night in Kansas & gassed up, I noticed the CSC GW conversions front fender was moving while parked. The bottom back 1/2 closest to the engine had cracked and was barely hanging. We went across the street to out motel & he duct taped it on & it made it home.

On Saturday night, we went to the Hooligan Flat Track Dirt Race, which was awesome & there were a couple run what you brung heats. I could not believe that people were actually out there on dirt with their street bikes & 1 trike even tried it, but he went real slow to avoid wrecking.

Thanks for the pictures, Glad you had a good and safe trip

Gets some rest and see you on the Forum here soon;)

Thanks Jack. I was hoping for a good deal on Progressive Shocks, but they had delivered their trailer prior to the event, but were no shows.

They had a very good local pinstripe artist there, but I just could not decide on a design. Every few minutes I saw something else I liked.
