    Default front end woble

    can anyone tell me why the front tire wobbles when i go slow

    Bobby it has to do with Rake and Trail. A very detailed subject. do some forum search on rake and trail and you can get educated. Some times to much air in the rear tires will cause it. Try running 22 to 24 lbs and see if that helps. Most likely though your trke does not have a rake kit installed that MIGHT cure it. If it is onlkt at low speeds and you can handle it and the steering effort above that is acceptable then just don't take both hands off the bars and ride on.

    if you have a set of stock trees and its only at low speed... (usually about 30 it goes away)... i wouldnt even bother checking or changing anything..

    get a set of raked trees the wobble should completely go away an you will think you have power steering

    your steering head bearings need to be tightened. This is a very common problem.

    it might be the problem..but not for sure

    other things it might be

    rear tires out of balance

    What kind of steering head? What kind of trike? I just yesterday solved the less than 45mph "head shake" in my homebuilt. I checked wheel beargs, rotor trueness, float on the calipers, steering damper, and tire pressures. I did one at a time because I wanted to know what the cause was. It wasn't any of that. My steering post sets on taper roller bearings and there was a full turn of excessive slack in the post nut. I'm still running it a tad loose, but I can now engage cruise control at 40 and safely take my hands off the bars. So I'd suggest that you check the steering head slop. It's free and easy.

    Actually on trikes the steering post nuts should be tighter then on the same bike only with 2 wheels. Like on a HD the swing test is 2 or more swing throughs center on a 2 wheeler. On a trike it is only one swing through.

    A low speed wobble (35 mph or less) can almost always be cured by snugging the steering bearings. Not sure on a trike but it the bearings on a 2-wheeler are over tightened the bike will wander and be difficult to hold in a straight line.

    Another solution may be a steering damper.

    generally a wobble is from to much trail... nature of a 3 wheeler a trike or a sidecar if the bearings are sloppy loose absolutely snug em down but if they are snug to tighten them to the point this stops a wobble is not a good solution,, bearings are meant to turn not stops from turning...short of reducing the trail the damper is the best bet but may not

    completely solve the problem
