    Fortsand,

I love your posts. You are helping us all out a lot with your detailed posts and pictures. I have a question from your video, did you convert your existing headlights to flasher style with a kit, or did you do it your self? I may have missed your post on this. I was considering getting that hyper-light kit with the pulsing lights, but as I read the federal law it seems it would only apply to head lights, I am not sure if it would cover driving lights.

    Thanks for the compliments.

The modulating headlight comes from www.kisantech.com. I am using

the stock bulbs. The modulator unit is plug and play and connects in series with the bulb. It is connected to the high beam and when going to low beam it is automatically turned off. It has a sensor which disables it at night. I ran one on a Gold Wing for seven years and it never gave a minute of problem, and bulbs will last longer as the bulbs never get to full intensity. When you go

on the Kisan web page, just look for the H-9 bulb application.

About the brake lights, I also had modulating brake lights on the Gold Wing and was never stopped. They only flash for a few seconds and then go steady. The motorcycle safety handbook

recommends tapping the brakes a few times when coming to a stop so that the brake lights will flash.

    This just does it automatically.

Additionally, I have had them on my suv for over three years and never been stopped.

Ask Zook if you can see them?

Yeah you can see em for sure. I got a good look at em about 4:30 AM departing Joe's house after our trip back from Texas! He has the same lights on his Honda (I think) SUV and led me out of his subdivision and pointed me to I-10 for my final leg home. Made a good friend that trip and I'll tell you hes a fine fellow. A true believer and a fine motorcycle technician too.

Good work on all your mods Joe and thanks for posting them to the board! Im curious to know what the Stallion sounds like under acceleration? Its mighty quite idling.

    Great info Fortsand,

Do you have or recommend the tailblazer brake lights?

(It looked like you had the led tail lights)

I am guessing the ones to order are the 20w-D 2 pack?

I would like to have the brightest tail lights, but I may need to go with the 10w lights. Do you know what comes on the stock Stallion? I am guessing they are just regular non-halogen lights.

Do you think the 20w's will work? TBMS was saying not to change anything in the electrical system, but I am not sure that is not just a standard answer to any non stock question.

My taillights are stock, I haven't changed anything. I only have

the hyperlight led's under the headrest. The Tailblazer is a product made by Kisan that makes the brake lights modulate. I had one of those on my Gold Wing. I am not aware of the oem bulb wattage.

    Default Accent LED lights

Thanks again for the info Fortsand!

Here is my weekend project. Cold winter weekends are great for working on my Stallion.

    Accent LED lights:

OK here is what i did:

I purchased Street fx electro pods motorcycle kit. The kit includes 6 oval posts with 6 LEDs each and two strips with 6 LEDs on them. I only installed the six red oval pods.

    2 White LED pods:

I installed two white pods in the vent area in front of the wheels. My logic for this was to light up the side of the bike so I can be seen better at night, and I could not use red because I was trying to keep it street legal. So from the front you can see the white LED's but I tucked them far enough under the lip of the fiberglass that you cannot see it unless you are very far forward. You can see the light very well at night. It also acts as a second set of driving lights, and I can see the area of the road and the curb that I was not able to see before. It also lights up the lower fiberglass area at night and makes it easier to see when parking against the curb in the city or a dark driveway.

    RED led pods:

I put one pod above each of my break and gas peddles.

It lights up the chrome on the gas pedal really well!

I like it because I can see when the front LED's are on since I did not install the lighted switch.

I am not as gifted as some of you with the electronics, but I am learning. I also constructed two plastic silver lined holders for the pods to install under the front cowling just rear of the chrome swing arm on each side. The reason for constructing this plastic guard is so you cannot see the bare red LED lights directly. North Carolina like many states have a law which makes it illegal to have red lights visible from the front of any vehicle. I set the pods far enough back to allow them to be visible to the chrome and get the nice bright reflections in the swing arm and the wheel, but you cannot see the bare red led bulbs unless you get down on your knees and peer into the front area. The picture is the best I can do. They look great at night! The front wheel sparkles!

I mounted the box up against the painted lip of the cowling.

I wired my lights to a constant on source of power. I figured that even if someone turned it on when I was not around the LED's used such little power it would not matter.

I also figured I can leave them on instead of the my warning flashers when I am away from my bike at night. I plan to install the strip LED's under the bike when I find a good place for them.

I was not able to find a good spot that was even due to the unsymmetrically of the frame.

I liked this project. It cost me about $100.00, and was a good value as I feel it will add to the safety of the bike and the custom look.

To all you "warm-weather" Stallion owners, Has anyone come up with any improvements for the audio from the stereo to be louder, such as front speakers or helmet plug-ins? If so, what did you do or use and can you post some pictures of how you mounted front speakers or connected helmet plug-ins?

Being here in "still-frozen" Minnesota I still have some time to wait before I can ride again and I'd like to get this problem solved so when I do get the old steed back out I'll be able to hear my music.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

    Fortsand,

I ordered the J&M 2003 Stallion kit from Sierra Electronics. I am going to try to install it for my ride down to Daytona. I want to start next Monday night (I am going to spend a romantic weekend in the mountains with my sweetie first). Is there anything that I need to look out for, or anything I need to buy outside the kit and the headsets and lower cords?

Looking at the picture they have on the web, it appears that a cable from the unit is going through the panel just above the a/c outlet.

I also had questions about where the CB antenna will mount.

I decided to order a Starcom digital unit. They are made in England, but have dealers here in the US. They guarantee that the intercom can be heard at 100mph. It also comes with 2 headsets. This setup will cost just over $500. I may have to buy a couple more components later. I'll have to see how it works out after I receive it. It is supposed to be here Monday.

To purchase the J&M kit with two of their Elite headsets would have been over $1000. I hope it works out for you.

One more question I had about the J&M unit is, mine has that map light setup where their unit is installed.

How is that going to conflict.

Muffler sounds GOOD the radio sounds good to. Is that the original Horn. Looking at the front end " Hyperlight turned off " I must say being a machinist am impressed with the workmanship on the front end.

I had a J&M like Mattel has but mine was installed on my FJR1300, now it is on the new SILVER Stallion and just about the same place as Mattel's is, I had nothing above it so I moved mine up.

I put the power outlet on the top the same place the other guy put his front speakers. then I got a pair of audio plugs that go into a stereo plug and ran that into the J&M and now I have helmet speakers that work fine.

I also installed a alarm system that will go off if you get to close to the stallion, or bump it. and the ignition is disabled if you want to try and start it. also if someone tries to hijack the stallion I can kill the engine as they are driving off.

I also ran some battery cables from the battery to the inside of the trunk and put a 50 amp plug on the cables in the trunk, then I made up a set of jumper cables with the mate to the 50 amp plug so I do not have to pull the wheel to jump the thing should I have to.

other things to follow, after all I have only had this thing a week.

Boy SILVERDEVIL have you been busy. Which security system did you install? Any special problems with the install? Any suggestions?

The plug in a good idea.

    Default Re: Stallion Modifications

the alarm system I got was SCORPIO 600

they have 3 models and this the middle one which comes with a pager/remote

the cheapest model will not page you, you only have a remote

the highest price one will auto set the alarm when you walk away with the pager in you pocket, and auto turn it off when you get close to the trike.

for $334 shipping and all you get 3 extras in the 600 model

    1. is a perimeter sensor which will go off when someone gets close, not alarm but just a chirping bird sound, if you get to close or lean in the alarm will go off.

    2. battery back up in case your trike battery goes bad or disconnected.

    3. is the anti-hijack feature, this is not wired in yet as the info I got from TMS was incorrect. I have a daughter that lives 10 miles from them so I have reasons to go there, next time I will push a little harder for the correct info.

the info needed is the "ignition/engine control wire"

the unit comes with a pager which how you set the alarm on and off and if it goes off it will beep you and show which alarm was set.

it was not hard to install except to find the "ignition/engine control wire"

I mounted the main unit on the gas tank and the perimeter sensor on the bar that holds the top of the passenger back rest in place, within inches of the tank.

pull your back rest out then you pull the seat out by grabbing the back of it and lifting it up. then you will see the 2 bolts that hold the passenger back rest in place, remove the 2 bolts and pull the bottom of the back rest and let the top come down.

now you got all the room in the world to install everything except where do you want to hook the power to. I extended the wire and went into the fuse box which is under your seat that you have already removed.

I pulled the fuse out of #28 shown on page 40 of your owner's manual and put the wire on the hot side, you need a meter or something to light a 12v bulb

    Default Re: Stallion Modifications

Although I want to get an alarm I am not sure anyone would want to steal a Stallion. They will not know what to do with most of the parts, heck, we don't even know where half of them come from! The tires are so specific, only one car ever made in the history of mankind uses that size, and there are only two! It has a ford parts (not Honda which are the most stolen). It is a motorcycle not a car, a motorcycle thief wants motorcycles parts not car parts. Most of the parts are only good to Stallion users ( all 300 of them?????) not much of a market for fencing parts. And to cap it off, how long do you think you are going to ride on a stolen stallion before you are caught????? APB for a red three wheeled Stallion last seen at the mall, duuu. Even stupid thief's are not that stupid. With that said I would still like to put one on my bike, but I have other priorities first.
