    Question Re: Stallion Modifications

Has anyone modified the turn signals, so that they time out? At times, like a highway entrance or exit ramp or gentle turn, the signals dont cancel and I may forget to do it manually. The turn indicator lights are not visible in daylight either.

I found some Kisan items that may work, but dont know which model to try.

If you have done this, please share details.

Another design defect is headlights that dont shut off when ignition is turned off. Am trying to get this modified while Stallion is at Ford dervice for A/C compressor replacement (its been there a week already).

    Road Runner,
The turn signal timer sounds like a great idea. I have left my signal on for miles. I would be very interested in this mod. The turn signal flasher is just to the left of the steering gear box if you are looking at it from the front. You can hear it when the hood is up.

Let us know if Ford is able to do anything about the lights, they might have an idea for the signals.

when I was at TMS in Troup I ask them about a beeper for the headlights when the engine is off, they said that they could not hear it when they tried one out.

I installed one on my silver one and I can hear it with no problem. go to Radio Shack and get a beeper of some sort that can run off of 12v. hook the positive wire to fuse 1 and the negative to fuse 10.

fuse 1 will be 12v when you turn on the headlights

fuse 10 will be 12v when the key is on and ground when the key is off.

when you turn on the headlights fuse 1 is +12v and if the key is off fuse 10 is ground and the beeper makes noise. if the key is on fuse 10 is +12v and that is the ground side so if the headlight is on or off there is no noise. I took the panel that has the AC/heat vent in it and put the beeper just under the vent.

I have done the same thing with the turn signals on my FJR1300 and my Ninja 650r. install a loud beeper from Radio Shack to the turn signals and when the turn signals are on the beeper is making noise and when off no noise.

now the problem is that there are 2 different turn signals one left and one right so where do you wire the beeper? you can wire 2 beepers one for the left and one for the right or you can put a diode on the left and a diode on the right and then hook the beeper to the 2 diodes and then no mater which turn signal is on the beeper will make noise.

DO NOT take fuse 10 out and leave it out and start the bike, if you do you will loose ALL of the gages, the tach, the speed, the temp and the fuel plus when you put the fuse back in you will have the check engine light on. after a couple of days the check engine light will go back off and all is OK or you can go to a ford dealer and have them turn off the check engine light, I just waited a couple of days. the book says there is nothing on fuse 10, that is a lie.

fuse 5 also says NOT USED, that is a lie also, if you pull fuse 5 out you will hear a very soft beeper, what is saying is that you door is open, what door, the fuse missing or blown says the door is open, this is part of the ford wiring and TMS did not remove the beeper.

the beepers are a few bucks apiece compared to $40 or $50 for the electrical device to turn off the turn signals. do what you want, I am cheap myself.

    Default Headlight Beeper

    Silverdevel,

Thanks so much for your post. I went to Radio Shack and picked up a 12v beeper for $3 and I took the seat off when I got home and following your directions I had my headlight warning beeper installed in just under 5 minutes. It works great! Thanks so much. Now when I turn off my ignition my warning beeper starts up if my lights are on. No more "hey you left your lights on dude!"

This was a simple fix. I hope TBMS picks up on this soon!!!!!

Nothing real fancy but it is my first modification, a visor CD holder from the Wally World sale bin, and a few tiny metal screws. Holds our MP3 Cd and the title and registration.

Mattel gets the credit as it is a slight change from his pouch mod.

    Hello Lunchbox,
Your mod.looksgood.I've had Rhino applied around the perimenter of the cockpit to stop shoes from scaring paint.I ran the Rhino up the return curve so I can place my feet there and not damage the paint Purchased seat covers from B&G upolstery, so decided to leave Rhino black for contrast. However, Jacks auto body in The Dalles, Oregon can paint the Rhino to match body color if so desired.B&G were a pleasure to do business.

Great Idea on the Rhino, I think I need to stop worrying about the paint and when it does get scratched up I will just do this mod.

Lunchbox, I am sure you used small screws, but double check behind if they are longer, as I believe the coiled wires are on the other side. My guess is they are for the fuel pump. The fuel cell is behind there too, but that is a thick metal cell. Big dog had put his amp in same location, and was careful not to connect electrical amp to fuel cell via fastener (E+A=BOOM). Looks cool.

Thanks Mattel, yes they were very short some did not even make it through the plastic. But that is a good safety point for any one making mods, know what is on the other side.

OK had a busy week and weekend working on the Stallion
    1) Hard wired the GPS power (you need a special cable or you will kill your Nuvi 660)

    2) Added Hyper Lite Brake LED lights beside the roll bar

    3) Added Hyper White LED running Lights to the Vents on each side

    4) Added an AUX jack to plug either into the GPS or her I-Phone, my wife is a BIG audio-book person, now she can enjoy them on the Stallion

    5) added a power port beside the cup holder to charge her cell

    6) added a power port between the seats so my son could power up his MP3 as he is Big time into Hardy Boys and other adventure audio-books. He has even taken to reading books on the Stallion.

    7) added a power port in the trunk

Mostly I have copied what the other fine folks on this forum have done so thanks. The power ports I used I found in the Boating section of Walmart, and they worked great , they are water resistant, and color match up with the Stallion interior, they can be flush mounted or drilled in.

For the members that have modified the cockpit edge using the Rhino Liner material.
Does the passenger like setting their hands or arms on that area that is coated while they ride. I thought the grit or ruff surface would affect the passenger’s comfort. Do you have them leave out the grit or is it still in the mix?
I like the coating the area ideal. I am always nailing it with by bad leg trying to get it over. So I leave scuff marks all the time.

I am close to getting the trike down finally so I can ride. My bad body sure has been taking a beating work on the modifications. I will post some pictures when I have it down and out of the garage. I just have the rear to finish and clamping the windshield modifications I did. (Still not sure on a couple of them.)

I located the darn Horn but I haven’t figured out the easiest way to remove it yet. If it gets too bad I may just not make the switch.

    Hello,
I,m not aware of any grit being used in any of the coatings for truck beds ect.At this time ,i've used three different applicators RHINO/LINEX AND APPLIED MATERIALS. The Rhino dealer I used, also adds paint to the coating and really looks nice. None of the ranchers/cowboys or farmers have had any problems. The texture has a slight pebbling but is smooth to touch and have had no complaints from passengers The dealer added UV inhibitor to coating but probably just snake oil and I was'nt charged anything. Also,I had 3M protective film added to both fenders and bra added at front ,with film added at the leading edge by front wheel. However,I took a rock above the right running light missing the film by 4 in.A bit of advice, fix chips before you apply film and do apply the film as soon as possible. Make sure paint is cured.I'm not sure how one paints chips with the 3 part paint on the stallion.

    Good Morning all,

Well I finally put the trike on the ground.

The jumper post are enclosed in plastic boxes from Radio Shack. The wires hanging down are for hard wiring a trickle charger. They are made using the battery side post.

You will see the side wind deflector’s I made are attached with 3m double sided tape.

The top windshield deflector is an 18” Baker, I think it is too long so I may order the 12” or 15”.

These links show the turning signals in action. But looks like the links won't display the full line it modifies everytime so the links are complete. When this is solved I will post them again.

    Part 2

The Light bar in the back is a 48” Firestorm that I modified so I could mount it using 3m double sided tape. This is the second light bar the first one I damaged mounting and liked to never got it off. That 3m tape is some good stuff.

There is a set of yellow running lights when I am in a State that doesn’t like my green running lights. There is three light kits underneath on set is computer controlled and the inside is lit up with green led’s. The stallion looks awesome after dusk on but you still can see them just not as much in the daylight.

You can see the cruise pedals match my gas and brake pedals.

The seat foam was replaced by Bike Solutions and I don’t hit the seat pan anymore and the wife likes it too.
I didn’t replace the horn, that will be done another time.

Mounting the under lighting and routing the wires was very time consuming.
I hope I hit all the area’s if not I will post again.

Ben, Looks great. Good work. Where did you get the green plastic deflectors on the side openings?

Ben It looks wonderful! You've had a long haul and done so much of this yourself . Way to go! Those bright green wind deflectors you came up with look perfect with your trike!

Thanks for all the nice comments. I will get some pic's done when the sun isn't bright.

Everyone seeing it of a night is has been at an aw so far.

Billy I ordered the Green Plexiglas and made the deflectors on the body and the windshield. The clear top deflectors on the windshield is from baker wings. But I made the rest.

I will post a profile pic as soon as I can showing the lights off...

Very nice work.On your wing dams for the body, the picture looks like the dam is stepped and rests on the body or is the dam a flat piece affixed from the inside? THANKS for the pictures.
