They have been known to fall off after the pinch bolt falls off

This solved the problems on the 5 speed, I see no reason it could not be adapted for the 6 speed gear box

I repaired a bunch of those type shifter levers on ATC's And once on my 11 Tri-Glide...
I would replace the bolt with a new one, Then file the opening in clamp part to make the slit wider then the clamp will tighten more on the shaft...The lever is made of softer medal [AKA sacrificial medal] than the harden spine shaft......If the lever gets too lose the harden shaft will eat the clamping part up, Better than if the lever was harden and then eat the shaft ....And then the tranny has to be opened up..

There doesn't appear to be any way to lube #31 without pulling bolt #1, yank out the shift levers #13 and buttering some white lithium
on the shaft....would be a jim dandy spot to drill/tap in a zerk fitting, yes?
Lola, did you happen to notice if there were o-rings on either end of where the shaft fits inside the casting?

I drill and tap the primary where the shaft runs thru, I grease it each oil change
Or look here

Another note, if your shifter rattles you can shim the shaft with wave washers
HD has gone cheap, baggers used to come from the factory with grease fittings for the shifter shafts and neck bearings
I guess the bean counters saved the MOCO a few dollars

The MOCO sure did drop the ball with that design, course as Bob mentioned, they're catering to the stock holders way more than the buyers/riders. Sux but that's the way of the world now. That's OK, we get to make them our own this way.

Yeah, that's the way it appeared on the fiche also....pretty much highway robbery the way they designed that.....sell lots of shafts and every once in awhile a case, nice!
Thanks Lola.
