What? ...Looks like a bunch of rain is predicted for Maggie Valley Gathering!
Hmmmm,
Wife and I really want to go to gathering as we haven't been to Maggie Valley or anywhere in NC yet.............Have to travel nearly 1000 mi to get there from here in Texas.
....Much look forward to the ride and adventure ................"But no likee BUNCH'a RAIN!.....No sah!"
....maybe forecast will change for the better by then............I wonder if this is the "norm" for this time of year up there in North Carolina?

The meteorologist have a hard time forecasting the weather 2 days out with any real accuracy.
I wouldn't have much faith in a forecast for a month from now.
And it rains in mountains almost every afternoon any way. Just start your rides early so your back at base by 3 or so and you will (probably) stay dry. Plus, a little water isn't going to hurt you.
You don't quit riding because you get old.

I've ridden the BRP/Cherohala Skyway every year coming home from Rolling Thunder. Only twice I've run into heavy rain, but only lasted a couple days at most. In the mountains you will encounter almost every type of weather = rain - fog - heat - cold - wind. I even got hit with hail once.
You do own a rain suit don't you??
Just go and enjoy. You will LOVE the area. Don't forget the Dragon.

....Dude, I'm only monitoring the weather forecast!....Have not changed plans and will go as planned (unless really bad weather is happening there)......I am not familiar with the area yet..........A few weeks ago, we rode to the Badlands in S. Dakota and ended up spending 3 days in hotel room due to constant cold rain and fled the area when the weather broke for a few hours as we were out of time. (the forecast was to be mid 80's and nice, but it was 54 degrees for a high and rained all week unexpectedly) .............That's why I asked about the normal weather in the Maggie Valley area during this time of year.WTF!! ..I really don't have much faith in the forecast this far out, but I check it anyway....and will be watching closely!.........That's why I thought I'd just see how this Gathering normally has weather conditions........just smelling around for info.

This year they call for 60-80% rain all week and then 2 days out all of a sudden poof 20% or less.Don't fret it to much.Besides half the fun is had hanging out.

Let us hope the weather prognosticators are wrong again, I take no joy in riding almost 600 miles to find rain.
In 2004 on our first trike trip, we got our rain suits from Walmart. The yellow construction rain suits with snaps on the jacket. Near Amarillo Tx on I 40 rain clouds gathered so our group stopped to suit up. All our friends had motorcycle rain gear and we hard our construction yellow rain suits. Ronnietrikes and started out. At bout 65 mph my wife’s suit starts SWELLING UP. Looked like a yellow Goodyear Blimp and then the snaps started unsnapping and the wind started ripping and tearing it until it was in shreds. She got wet and mad but today it’s funny. Every time we get with our trike friends from that trip we still laugh about it. It’s the little things that make The the journey memorable.
