    Default VANDERHALL: Vanderhall Forum

Vanderhall has seemed to embrace social media like twitter and Facebook instead of any standard on-line forum. I for one do not like or use social media; and, I would like to have a normal forum dedicated to Vanderhall vehicles to allow me and other to share our experiences and

    questions.

    I approached Papa Z. about
the possibility of the TrikeTalk forum about it; but, he turned me down, feeling there was not enough interest in Vanderhall to warrant its own forum at the time. I feel Papa Z. was overlooking the potential of supporting them at this early stage. A forum allowing people to share experiences, data, and ask questions is truly invaluable – to the vehicle, its owner-base growth, and the manufacturer.

But, I do want to try to start some level of forum support for Vanderhalls; so, I will use the “Other” forum for it. I will try to always start the subject of my posts with “VANDERHALL” in caps to let everyone know (and, would like to request others try to as well when starting a thread on Vanderhall vehicles).

Randy 'Zook" runs a great forum here, there's no way he can develop a special 'forum' for every three wheeled vehicle on the planet. I notice you're new here, no problem we like new posters and welcome them, but come on, you can't tell him how to run his own forum. He pays for the forum, he develops it, he proofs it, he's independent, has not sold out to the special interests, and way more lenient than that 'other forum' and mods that police it.

At the moment, I can’t think of any member here other than you that has one

Lots of talk on them, but not enough ownership.

Just recently, I introduced TrikeTalk.com to members of the Vanderhall Owners Forum. Initially I just wanted to see how many of their members were also members of TT or were interested in learning more about TT. Since then, one Vanderhall owner (screen name SandyKen) became a member of TT and this is what he posted on Vanderhall Owner Forum:

"I cannot thank you enough for your invite to TT. It is so much more than just a trike forum. Good and kind people found there. It's like walking into a lounge where anything may be discussed with friends. I've just scratched the surface as there are so many threads. Some are informational, some will make you laugh, and some will make you cry. I will post more there when I figure out how everything works".

It's just a matter of time as the word spreads around their forum, before more V. owners will look at TT and see if it suits their fancy. Many think of their rides as an "autocycle" and not as a "trike". TT will change that conception. Afterall, we're all in the same boat, in that somewhere along the line, we either gained or lost a wheel.

Default Here is #44 Vanderall Venice

I have had it over a year with new red leather interior hand made full rear fender which can only be driven with no passenger and the hand

made trim radius on hood to give it finished look and next Spring will powder coat the wheels in silver.

My wife hates the Vanderhall Venice for to hard to get in & out of and to tight interior for my elbows always hitting her while driving.

So I now have a vehicle I can go for a ride along in Yippie!

I've had a test ride twice now and really like the way it handles! Would you explain why your full rear fender has anything to do with not being able to have a passenger or am I reading it wrong. Also be nice if you could tell others about what parts you used for that fender and where you purchased them as the factory option is too small in my opinion. Have you driven in the rain yet?

Being a distance rider, I've ridden in the rain for many, many miles in a rain suit. I was told yesterday (Dec 8) that the factory does NOT install options you order? Nothing like having extra parts you don't need and extra labor costs to boot! I hope the guy telling me that was misinformed as getting items you want and can wait for the build SHOULD save a few bucks if done while building the vehicle. I do hope this is read by any and everyone at Vanderhallmotorcycle to think about this. Tomg9

The reason the rear full fender will not work with heavier loads is that when suspension is fully loaded the full rear fender may travel up and hit extended over hang of body..

The rear half fender kit you purchase will not hit over hang of body . The full rear fender I hand made has touched the upper body one time with just me in it .

I did tighten spring tension 2 turns and it has not hit but that is with just me in it.. You put a passenger I think good chance of it hitting.

You need to buy the full length front fenders so that road debris does not fly into cockpit.. When I took my interior out to installed my new interior I found all kinds of stones

under the seat and even in storage behind seats..

If you are large in being heavy weight I would not suggest Venice and if you are going to have a passenger and you have long arms like I do , your passenger can not find enough

side room to stay away ,its that tight .. The Slingshot has so much more room than VH that my wife will only ride in Slingshot.

Which in some ways I am glad that I have a vehicle that I can drive by myself now and enjoy few rides up to covered bridges..LOL

Vanderhall is coming out next year with Carmel Model and it has door and few more inches interior space but hear it will be close to 40k vs 30k for Venice or 22k for Basic Slingshot with 5 speed

and all Vanderhalls are automatic, with approx 180 to 200 HP both with turbo.

I have turbo on my slingshot with approx 280HP and with 5 speed manual will blow away my Vanderhall and the front tracking width 10" wider on Slingshot (78") vs 68" on Vanderhall

and the fact that steering is narrower you can not make tight turning radiuses as you can in Slingshot..

I find that you need the optional bump shifter more for slower speeds for when going around 30 to 45 mph in automatic it is always searching for proper gear and with bump

shifter you put in manual mode and just put it in gear for speed traveling.

I find my Slingshot more for days I want to hotrod though the corners and using the gears just to be more adrenaline rush and the Vanderhall more a cruiser .

The Vanderhall from stop light does kick ass but after that it lacks the power of Slingshot 2.4 GM motor vs VH having 1.4 GM motor and the new Carmel will have a 1.5 200HP motor.

I have been thinking of selling my Venice with all the extras for about 25k but having 10k extra and now will have to come up with 17k to purchase Carmel and only putting 2,500 miles

on it, I think I would be wasting to much money .

As far as riding in rain..Hmmmm I have been a 2 wheel motorcyclist going cross country and driving in pouring down rains and some snow in Western U.S and doing

75 to 80 mph with wife on back ..

Well these auto cycles you will not be thinking of speeds like that with none of them.....

Going to Maggie Valley N.C. from NJ I will tell you I was doing 80 mph keeping up with traffic and then rain started and all of a sudden buckets and felt Slingshot lift and start

to rotate and left off gas and tried to do 60 no and then 50 no and was down to 35mph on I85 and tractor trailers passing us like we were standing still.

They hydroplane so easy with puddling and I believe the vanderhall could go a little faster in conditions being front wheel drive but I would not push it

much over what I was driving Slingshot in puddling conditions..

And I thought Mogan 3 wheelers would be better with narrower tires and friend in Calif doing highway speeds in rain hydroplaned and spun off road.

So do not think you are going to drive any 3 wheeler the speeds of a 2 wheel motorcycle or car .

If you do try we will be reading about you on one of these forums.

Will note the Vanderhall has a look that most will like over Slingshot the reason I have made 3 bodies for mine and making my 4th and last body.

But the Slingshot as ugly as it is has more room and with manual 5 speed 173 HP and tighter turning radius and wider tracking is still worth giving it a try.

Note Vanderhall at this time does not install options and yes you end up with parts being thrown away or useless and laying around.

I have talked to them about this but they don't seem to care for they know you will need the bigger fenders and will purchase them.

We could not agree on anything until Sandy found Vanderhall and it still took 18 months to buy a Vanderhall Laguna. Watched all of the videos and read all the reviews we could.

Some were good and some were quite cruel. This is the personal rocket that I dreamed of as a kid. Just like every Harley that we've owned, it's not perfect and accessories can be added at extra expense. Most models come off of the assembly line with the same components just like any Harley. Only option is color.

We travelled to the factory in Provo to meet Steve Hall the CEO at Vanderhall. These vehicles are the product of his vision to create an exotic vehicle for the masses. See more at vanderhallusa.com or visit the FB Vanderhall Owners Forum. It is a public forum and feel free to look around. Unlike this forum, it is simply chronological.

We are united by 3 wheels and a love for feeling the wind. Thanks again to pmar6004 for the invite and to all for listening, Ken and Sandy

I am waiting for the Carmel. But I surly hope that Vanderhallmotorcycle will rethink their production line with the new 1,000,000 square foot facility. I was told that presently they only have 20 people putting the vehicles together and can't imagine not increasing the personnel to build the vehicles.

Maybe this site will help them understand what potential buyers want with accessories that should be included with the build as with other manufacturers. Paying for options is one thing but, not having the option to have them included initially is just NOT RIGHT! After all, seats, fenders, cruise control, a/c should be done at the factory in my opinion. Tomg

Default These 3 wheelers got me started

The 3 wheeler bug was started in 1984 with Honda 200 X and then a Honda 350X and I loved both these machines in the dirt.

Then all the places I enjoyed these rides in New Jersey were gone by early 1990's.

Then in 2008 bought first Can Am and it was OK to me but was not the cornering machine that I needed.

Then in 2011 I purchased a JZR Honda 650 powered right hand drive 3 wheeler and the bug has grown.

The person I purchased the JZR from also had a Triking UK 1000 Moto Guzzi powered and he also had one of

the first Aces out in Washington which became the Morgan 3 ..

I drove that but he was not going to sell that so I bought and fixed the Triking UK .

They were a company putting 4 and 5 speed transmissions from UK Fords behind Moto Guzzi with kits and not testing

them and then I realized the shaft had to much angle to really hold up for long term..

But both drew a crowd were ever I drove them.

Then I sold them after 2 years and then Slingshot arrived and then Vanderhall.

    Default Post Your Vanderhall

I'm curious as to how many TT members have become Vanderhall owners. Although we "Vanderhallers" seem to refer to our rides as Autocycles, I still refer to mine as a Trike. So with that being said, I will start by listing my screen name, year/model, last 4 characters on my ride's VIN, when I became a Vanderhaller, previous motorcycle/trike and a picture of my ride.

Mine is registered as a trike, I call it a trike. If Florida redesignates it as an autocycle, I'll call it that. Who really cares what it's called as long as you can ride it! Enjoy the ride. Tomg

One thing I really don't understand is why they started with new serial numbers for the GT as it's only a few cosmetic changes? You can get everything on both vehicles other than color and the engine drive line is the same. Tomg

I agree with you Tom. I would have been totally satisfied with a standard model Carmel, if they made it in Red. The leather interior and seats are nice, but I could do without the paddle shifters, which I rarely use. I just about decided to go for the GTS, but I had enough trouble trying to justify spending an extra $3K for the Red, and then to go another $3K for the GTS...? But one can't put a price on happiness and satisfaction. I think you will agree that you've got to own one (Vanderhall) to understand what caused the impulse to buy one in the first place.

Hi Bill, Very nice color on your new trike but I have to ask, did you have to wear a grass skirt when you picked up that pretty Tahitian Teal HD? LOL Hope you two enjoy it for many miles to come. Tom

Hell Tom,,, even did the Hula. It looks entirely diff, in person. Pics don't do it justice. So, Kville was cancelled this Spring. Maybe a Fall gathering, ?? Seems to me you could do that if it happens.

I'm considering Maggie Valley and Pigeon Forge but not sure which one yet. If they were closer, like back to back I'd do both but don't feel comfortable being gone 3 weeks + during peak hurricane season. Tom
