HD mechanic pointed out that the brake switch is right above the brake pedal, between front cylinder and exhaust pipe. He keeps several in stock because the beat eats them up. Prior to this i had been stuck in traffic, 97° day, 1 1/2 hours to go one mile through Georgetown after Rolling Thunder,DC. Only high point was watching two wheelers doing the "feet up -

go one yard- feet down" Made me content having my FW.

Harley wants every one to believe their mechanics are "technicians" that have all the answers. Most have never seen a knuckle, pan, shovel, or maybe even an evo. They are taught computer diagnostics fixes everything, "all i have to do is check the diagnostic code". I had my brake lights stay on and cruise control not working, 125 miles from home. Called dealer, gave them the code and was told it was an ecm problem. Stopped at another hd shop, explained my problem, "old timer" immediately said its your brake switch. $38 part, $45 labor and fixed. Just remember HD means hundred dollars.

With my 2011 Tri, That was a recall....While i waited N/C.....

I sometimes check nhtsa.com for recalls and complaints. Didn't see any recalls for 15fw. I worked as a vehicle fraud investigator and learned about, what was called a "silent recall", or called a service bulletin. If it is not a safety issue, it is up to the manufacturer to notify owners, Yeah- Good LUCK WITH THAT.

I never knew there was a recall/service bulletin, I just happened to be at the dealer kicking tires when the service manager walked by and asked did you do the recall on the brake switch told him no i didn't know anything about it....Hang on he said and we'll do it right now...

Just went into WWW.NHTSA.COM site, choose vehicle, type in year and then Harley Davidson. It will give all models. Only pain is everytime you go back you have to again choose vehicle etc

My '10 TG may have had similar problem at 86k miles when I blew engine. Rebuilt under warranty with same crappy casings. Blew engine again recently at 136k. Replacing engine on my dime now. Completely disgusted with HD these days. Had I not rebuilt tranny at 130k, I would have just moved on to another brand.

You can have the best shop mechanics in the world, but if you're forced to fix overpriced bikes made with inferior materials at exorbitant labor costs, you will lose your customer base. I've been on HD for 35+ years and I am feed up with the "Motor Company" . I may be moving to ... Dare I say it...Metric

Agree, and thats why there will never be a Harley in my grarge again...
