Got my future trike

Picked up a nice 2003 Sportster 1200C that I took in on a trade for one of my cars. Always wanted a trike so now it's time to start building one. I know there are some people on here that say Sportsters don't make good trikes because they are no good for long hauls but I have my bagger for that. Time to start gathering the parts. I am thinking of the frankenstein rear but man are they expensive.
That will make a wonderful trike! And no reason you can't use it for long hauls as long as you are comfortable on it. Sportsters are great bikes., and the frankenstein kit works well and looks great on it. Check out SBStormy's pictures for an idea of how it will look.

DFT (one of our sponsors) make a kit for the sportster, and they will ship it to you for you to assemble. They have a tremendous kit.

This is the look I'm going to shoot for except the rear tires are a little too big. Got this off the Frankenstein site. I'll have to check out DFT.

What do u call expensive ? Not many kits go for less than the Frankenstein.. . $5,000 is about low average for a kit. They aint cheap. Some are $7,000 to over $10,000 . Most people when asking ( Oh wow that's what I want honey how much are they ) are shocked when you reel off $$$$. It is like they want to hear $600.00, You see their mouth drop.

I know what your saying. I didn't mean to imply that they are overpriced. There are less expensive rear differentials out there but I really like the look and quality of the Frankenstein axel so I will probably just bite the bullet.

I don't care for the big fiberglass rear fenders and back ends in some "kits" so I'll skip all that.

You can't go wrong with the Frankenstein. Rock solid, very well built, have never seen reports of any problems. Anything from
