Interesting question. I've never seen one and looked at all the different makes and models before buying the HD one. Questiion is are you looking for looks on the back or protection of the rear. I'm sure the are plenty of fabricators out there that could make you a stylish looking one like they put on street rods.

I have never heard of that, I know one guy on here built his and then he either painted or powder coated it, not sure, has to do with the hitch from Hitch Doc, he wanted something different. I think a chrome one would be cheaper IMHO unless you are talneted in this field. Having somebody built it for you and get everything just right to bolt up and look good but put the expense up a little bit or a whole lot.
All for now Trampas
P.S. The hitch from Hitch Doc would have worked on his bike but he wanted something a little different and it took him awhile so to speak because of the hitch so it wouldn't interfer
I had my bumper powder coated black so it blends in with the back of the trike. For those who want to build one, take a good look at the one HD offers. It is not just straight across the back then with a 90 degree bend on each end.It has a large radius across the back to hug the body so you will need access to a roll bender to make it look right.
Buy a chrome bumper and give it the Scotchbrite pad treatment. I saw a chrome car bumper that was done like that, looked good.
That's probably the simplest and least expensive option to get what the OP is looking for.
I made my own bumper, from steel, and had it powdercoated. This was 6 years ago and it has held up well.
It would not be that difficult to get one made out of Aluminum and give it the brushed treatment, but I think Firewrench's was of scotchbrighting a chrome one may be just as effective and easier, all around.

Kevin, your bumper is cool. I wanted to keep things clean, but still felt I needed something resembling a bumper, and needed a bit more black on the ass end. I used some black reflective vinyl. It's black in the daytime, but in headlights it lights up kind of gray-white.
