    Yes and Yes

Used it for years. Seals punctures and balances the tires.

    1. Make sure you read the instructions for putting it in the tires.

    2. It is not to be used in the Wings that have TPMS as Honda does not seal the sensors.

I use it and appreciate the heck out of it.

Had a smooooth ride.....Ride-On made it better - could not believe it!

As Deputydawg said - read all the info on their website - especially trike-related.

Also....be advised.....the first ride after adding the product will give you a head-shake or wobble....just stay calm and keep riding. It is merely the product distributing itself throughout the tire and will smooth out in a mile or 2 at highway speeds. Additionally, it might do this - but not as severe - if you haven’t ridden in a few days.

Plus, knowing I’ve got a better chance at getting through a tire puncture when riding in the middle of nowhere is worth the peace of mind to me. It will not help a sidewall puncture - puncture must be in the crown of the tire - according to the website.

There are a bunch of threads and info here on TrikeTalk if you want to do a search.

Actually those first few miles should not be at highway speeds. Just slow somewhere around 35 - 40 mph is best. Then after a few miles hit the highway.

DO NOT think more is better. Use just what is recommended.

I'm surprised myself that more people aren't using it. It's great stuff. But I'm on another forum where a moderator did a so called test between Ride-On and standard balancing with weights and he thumbs downed the product. I called him out showing the holes in his testing but being a moderator his word is golden. So with people like that and with many thinking Ride-On is just Slime with a different name, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

I hope someday I can see them parked in the emergency lane with a flat so I can stop to call for tow service for them, tell them I use Ride-On and ride away into the sunset. I won't ride without it myself. I've had tank slappers before due to a flat before I knew about Ride-On. It isn't fun. Never ever use Slime thinking it's the same stuff. It isn't. Far from it. Slime is nasty stuff.

For me it does not seem as good for balance as Dyna Beads. I only put it in the Frt tire, Dyna in the Goodyear rears

I've put it in a couple of Gold Wings ... love the ride ... and around here ... love the piece of mind ... good stuff. Plan to put it in the Tri Glide soon ... been kind of weird around here lately (to say the least).

I've used Ride On for years, it has served me well and works as advertised on the web site. Especially like the new improved product where there's no danger of wheel corrosion, biodegradable, and washes easily away with water, but then it's not necessary because it remains in the tire when changing, no mess. Some folks don't like it, and that OK with me, different strokes......

I suspect many of those that do not like this product have had one or both of the following experiences:

    1. Did not install the prescribed amount.

    or

    2. Did not dispense the product in the tires as instructed.

To bad Honda chooses not to seal their TPMS senors and therefore RideOn is not recommended for use in these bikes!

So much for that !! Everything was done per ride-on instructions

My Indian has sealed sensors and I think the moist environment inside the tires with Ride-On still gets to them. I've had to replace mine and in each case the sensor was swollen where the battery is. Maybe that just how batteries of that type deteriorate, I don't know. I just thought it odd that supposed sealed sensors had swollen batteries.

Was there any RideOn residue on the batteries noted?

In both cases, your Indian and Gold Wings, it would interesting to know just how the RideOn substance can get on the sensors? It is dispensed into tires with the plunger portion of the valve stems removed. The valves are then cleared with a good shot of compressed air. Then the product is dispersed by riding the bike and remains on the inner circumference of the tire.

As far as beads balancing better than RideOn in the rear tires of a trike, I again suggest the proper amount was not dispensed into the tires. Remember, those are car tires!!

I'm sure the beads can balance but, why not have the extra benefit of puncture protection?

Zero. But the sensor was moist like sweat on a mirror or window in winter. That is a wet environment with Ride-On in tires. That's not saying there never was any that got on it but centrifugal force slung it off. I can see that might happen. But so what? It's a sealed sensor.(quote/unquote)

I agree with you about using the proper amount. But I've heard of cases of guys claiming they put the correct amount in and had some shake after. I really don't see how. I even removed the weights on mine after the initial ride to get it distributed around the wheel. And the next time I road it, it was fine. There was some minor shake to start but I guess it redistributed around in there. I think that's what it's supposed to do as the tire wears. So I really question those that have trouble with the stuff. It's pain to put in and I'd bet money they never emptied a single bottle. That last bit is very hard to get out. So getting that perfect amount is rather hard. I always buy an extra bottle for that very reason. I'm sure to get the correct amount that way. But then the problem might be getting too much which would be just as bad if not worse. Their instructions on correct amount on the bottle isn't great. Last two bikes had tire sizes not listed. Could that be these guys problem? So they guessed rather give them a call.

    Ride On?

It will seal … if still fluid when leak starts , if it can reach the leak.

It will balance a tire … if ridden while still fluid.

I bought enough to treat a couple bikes and a trike once. Sometime later … maybe a year or so after treating my GL1200 bike, the rear tire was flat. I had put new rubber stems in with the new tires, I always do. I have habit of checking tires before rides, but when I moved it off the center stand that day, I could hardly move the bike, I knew "not good". Pulled air hose to air up, stem had cracks and Ride On had oozed out. I knew, must have been a very old stem the shop sold me to be rotted that fast. I also saw some white stuff on the tire bead where something had oozed out between the tire & rim. I drove my car to work and after work, I removed the rear wheel & tire, broke tire bead on one side, put a new all metal stem in, noticed dry flakey stuff in the rim, pumped tire up, remounted it, parked bike. Next day it was flat again. I dismounted it all again, took a lot of scrubbing to clean that crap off my rim bead, but after that it was OK. I also had checked the front, was adding air there too, noticed a few whisps from the rim edge, decided to dismount and inspect and put in a all metal stem there too, every bit of the Ride On had dried there too, took a lot more scrubbing to clean the rim, put everything back, no more flats.

In fact, the only flat I've ever had on a MC in 45 years was that rear tire on the 1200 with Ride On in it. I pitched (into the trash) the other containers as I had not yet used them. I will say It did balance really well, smooth as silk, but then, so do my Air Soft Red Jacket .22 Caliber Hard Plastic BBs.

What bothered me about it was it had hardened into a flakey substance on my rim and had seeped into the rim-bead area between the aluminum and tire bead before hardening, leading to leaks there that otherwise have never been an issue. Lots of scrubbing with soap & water and I got it all gone. I suspect the Ride On did stop a leak at my rear tire's decayed stem, but it was at best an awful mess to clean up after. It was also nearly all dried. The front tire had never gone flat, but I did add air often, and there were those whisps of white from between the tire bead & rim like I had noticed on the back tire/rim. .

    Just my experience there.

I had bought the several containers or kits from a friend who was a distributor after another friend had found a 5/16" or 3/8" bolt stuck in his bike's rear tire sealed by the Ride On he had put in. He didn't know the bolt was there or even to look for it until a co-worker noticed it at work at the trucking terminal parking lot where he worked, he rode it the <1/4 mile to the Honda shop across the road after work to get it fixed. By time I had my experience, the friend who was a distributor had moved far away so I let it pass.

Default My recent Ride On Experience

I put new tires on my tri glide.

I put the Avon AV-91 on the front and the Goodyear Comfort treads on the rear. I had the indy shop that mounted them put RideOn in the tires and no weights.

I had a hum in the front tire. I've read about this humming before and it seems to be hit or miss. I called Avon and talked to them. They recommended I have the tire broken down, the RieOn removed and the tire balanced. I did that. The indy shop did it for $0. When they broke down the tire, the RideOn had dried and kind of rolled on about a 1/3 of the right side of the tire. The part that rolled was pretty hard. When I've removed tires before with RideOn, it's always looked like a light colored toffee down the middle of the tire. This was not that, The indy called RideOn and they wanted a sample of the harder stuff.

After balancing the tire, it was less humming, but still there sometimes. When they balanced the tire, they said the tire was perfect and no weights were needed. I decided to have another shop balance the tire. HD wouldn't do it but Honda would ... go figure. They say the tire was just a tad off and they did add weights. The humming was less, but, still there a little bit.

A few days ago, I got an email from RideOn that explained the indy shop had put ATV RideOn in my tires. The proper configuration would be to put the motorcycle formula in the front and the car formula in the rear. They make this stuff for bicycles & scooters, ATV's, Motorcycles, cars, Off Road, and even Semi's ... I didn't know that and apparently my indy didn't either. Between the indy and RideOn, my tires are now balanced with weights, and all the ride on is gone. The humming still exists a bit around 65-70 miles per hour, but, it is far less than before. If I take my hands off the bars, I can't tell it's there.

So, why post all this, I suspect that some "dealers" don't understand about the different formula's and probably not about the proper amounts. In the past I've always done the install myself, and followed the instructions. Lesson learned, check what your shop is doing when you ask them to do it.

I've only used the motorcycle formula and only once did I see dried Ride-On when the tire was broken down for new tire. Matter of fact it was powder due to the heat build up. And that one time was due to getting a ¼ inch size hole and riding on that tire another 12 miles before I could get off the Interstate highway and to a safe place to stop. Ride-On does not seal a ¼ inch size hole and states that. But it did slow the rapid air loss enough that I finally saw my TPMS telling me I was loosing air. So it that regard it may have saved me from a tank slapper. That 12 miles was white knuckle miles and at the end I could barely keep the bike up. That tire was complete toast at that point. I suspect many try to use the ATV formula because it's cheaper. Just my guess.
