But would really like to hear about rain/water in the cockpit..Do you get a lot of water or is it a mist? Does the front tires push the water into the cockpit or does the splash sheild seem to work for the most part?

I have to get over and test drive on some day soon
I get a slight mist.....And no water from the tires.....The water /rain hits the windshield and some drops down, Before it hits me...And because i have the Sling-shade/Roof the remainder gos over the roof and out back.. Before i had the roof the rain would soak me....Like i fell in a pool....

When i made the deal for the Slingshot i had to wait a week or two before Polaris had one to send to the dealer ,They are only dealer installed , No charge in ''My ''Case'' for the install and the roof...[35 Hundred dollars]

When it the traction control kicks in a light will turn on in the spedo pod.... But believe me when it does go on you don't have the time or the wits to see it...It reacts so quick..

It can with a switch in the console be turned off...I tried it both ways, I found it better to leave it on, ..

You have to understand that the Slingshot isn't for everyone....Was it my first choice' No it wasn't....But to get out of my 17 Tri-Glide [Lemon] with out any money changing hands it was the best move for me...That said i love driving it, And it can be driven fast much faster than i could with the Tri-Glide...Especially around curves....And where i would do the speed limits on local roads. Now find my self driving way over them..

Well put a turbo on it and upgrade the suspension and brakes and see how you do with keeping the speeds down...hmmmmm?

Too much power in stock form as it is....Or not enough traction at the rear wheel..If your not careful you'll be going thought tires every 2 thousand miles.. The brakes are perfect ABS and stops on a Quarter......I would have said stops on a dime, But with inflation and all it's a Quarter now.......

Yeah I know what you mean on the TRI. Have a Spyder now and really like it.. Just lurking right now and would have to test ride one or rent on for a day or two to see if it IS something I would like for long term..

Never was happy with the stock Spyder tires and dont expect the Slingshot to be any different, since they are using the same manufacturer .

I had a Spyder [08] I managed to get 30 k on the rear, But i know most never got more than 8k...I learned from my drag racing days....Spinning tires loses races so i was easy with the throttle till i had a good roll going on....

Really??? What tire? We are still searching for one that gets more than 9K. On our second Yokahama S-Drive which is supposed to get better mileage but the first sure didn't. But that second tire was put on after getting the trike laser aligned and they said it was way out. So we shall see. But we are always open for suggestions for that rear tire. Wife drives the RT Limited following me and my hotrod days are well behind me. So it isn't throttle twisting that is limiting her to 9K. Got 11K on the OEM Kenda.

MAn my first Kenda only got 5800 miles..Then went with the Vee Rubber and was OK but replaced it around 8000 miles because I was going on a trip and figured it would be bald by the time I got back home. Now using a car tire for the rear Kuhmo ESTA all weather. Think its up to around 14 k on it now and still got rubber left. Then put Federals on the front. Boy what a difference in handling. Those tires still look like new.

I am sure I would remove the rear Kenda on the Slingshot if I ever got one and find a car tire

It was the OEM Kenda....And if i remember correctly [i sold the Spyder 8 years ago] i was running less air than was recommended at the factory settings when i noticed the center of the tire was wearing much faster than the sides were......

I’m not speaking from experience but I have read a lot since I got mine. Lots of rubber for 1,700 pounds, so hydroplaning is much more likely over motorcycles. I’ve purchased some good plastic wax for windshield so it will shed cause I cannot see over the windshield. I’ll do the inside also to reduce fogging. I’ve read where water can soak into the seats or seat covers so trash bags might be good to use (a high dollar option but maybe worth it). I have a taller windshield and a top, but water looks like it will still get in. A big complaint is water being thrown in from spray off the back tire. I have a rear windscreen and that is supposed to stop that, as would a rear fender. All in all, I think I’d rather ride this when it’s raining than 2 wheels or a conventional trike. I’ve hydroplaned on 2 wheels during heavy rain with Michelin pilots. I’ve put a rain suit in it so I won’t be any worse off than being on 2 wheels. I’ve ridden in the rain a lot on long trips, you just need to have rain gear to stay dry. And if it’s bad, stop and get a burger.

You will not want to ride a Slingshot over any 2 wheel motorcycle in any rain.

You say cover your seats so I take it you have custom seats and not stock seats ?? Stock rubber seats are excellent in rain just not hot sunny days.

You say you have taller windshield .So it is aftermarket windshield.. If you have F4 windshield he does not recommend any plastic windshield spray. But to use alcohol for cleaning.

I drive my Slingshot in the rain and never had a problem except when i get too heavy on the gas, And then the traction control and stability instantly corrects.. ....And i've ridden two wheelers since the late 60's and i can say i rather be driving the Slingshot in the rain then any of the other bikes i've owned The two worst/dangerous bikes I've ever owned and rode in the rain was a Cb 750 Custom and a Suzuki T 1000.. ....With the Slingshot I might get a little wet, But i won't fall over... As far as the stock seats go they don't hold water...And they are not plastic...

My windshield is the Polaris ripper model....And to clean it i use the Honda spray wax..

Like i said in a few of my other posts the Slingshot wasn't my first choice but its where i'm at now.... That said the more i drive it the more i enjoy it, Like just this morning on my Coffee run, Light snow mix with sleet/rain..,,

I believe I have a Polaris Ripper windshield. My seats have PRP seat covers over what I believe are oem seats. With respect to the seats getting wet, as I mentioned, I’m not speaking from experience but rather from what I’ve read. There are several threads on this on other SS specific forums. I’m not sure what seats they had. The plastic wax was recommended by one of the vendors who sells SS accessories.
