Ran out of gas
I do not have a gas gauge on my Heathen Trike. I watch my mileage and when I get around 150 miles or so I start looking for a gas station.
The other day I pulled up to the gas pump, cleared my trip meter the realized they were out of gas. I figured no problem I will just get gas down the road.
Well I forgot and ran out of gas. I called the Ol'Lady to bring me some.
As I was waiting sitting along side the road 3 large Harley's went past me going the same direction but did not stop.
2 Trikes went past me going the other direction but did not stop.
A Sheriffs car went and they did not stop
Lots of others cars and trucks went but no one stopped
Now I did not need their help, the Ol'Lady was on her way with gas but they did not know that.
Whats wrong with people now a days? I would have stopped if I seen a Bike or Trike broken down. I thought was the unwritten code with us riders. We help each other when needed.
Anyway the Ol'Lady showed up with a can of gas and I made it home.

The world has changed, and not all for the better.
Not sure why but it really seems that there are many more bad actors running around with bad intentions especially towards those in situations like yours, stuck on the side of the road.

2019 Tri-Glide.......
In the last month or so I turned around to check on two different riders. One on a triglide, The other on some kind of harley dresser. Guy with the dresser looked like I insulted him because I asked if everthing was ok. Guy on the triglide thanked me and said he had the situation under control. I'll keep doing it, it's just the way its always been for me. Hey Maybe somebody will pay it back if I'm ever stuck on the side of the road. I know, I know I live in fantasy land.
I always stop if I can safely for 2 or 3wheelers.
Glad things turned out OK, I always try to stop if I can safely

The way people are getting shot these days I don't blame them for not getting involved. We all have cell phones these days.

the stretch of road from work to home is about 35 miles. Most of it you cannot get a cell signal. I had to walk up the road about half a mile to get a signal and then it was not good (1 bar). Had to call the wife a number of time before I got through and was able to tell her what I needed.

If you need assistance, aren't you supposed to put your helmet on the ground, behind bike, close to road, as a signal for help?

Just a couple weeks ago I went flying by a women stopped in a not great location. I got off next exit, backtracked, another exit and back to here. She was on the phone and said she ran out of gas and husband was on the way eventually. Asked if she had a reserve. Didn’t know what I was talking about. Tried to say there was a gas station just up road down hill. Didn’t want to talk. I was dismissed.
When I head cross country, I always carry a spare gallon. Saved me and other people many times.

Far too many don't know this or have forgot it. I don't need a helmet to cause me to stop but I do actually wish a 5 foot expandable pole with a red flag was the signal. At highway speeds I can't recognize a person is in trouble until I've passed them. So I find the nearest place to pull a u-turn and go back. 9 times out of 10 the person has already used their cell phone to call for help. So I'd say cell phones are why most don't stop.They assume you have one and would use it. I prefer the old school ways where people helped people instead of the me me me thing we live in today.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.
