Upgrade 107 to 114

When I bought my 2017 TG I wanted to install the engine upgrade kit to convert it to a 114.

At the time the dealer said I couldn't do it because the rear end could not handle the extra power.

The 2019 has the 114 so Harley must have changed some of the componets of the rear end and I was wondering if anyone knows what changes were made.

You may be right, but in the 2017 P&A, Trikes are excluded from the 114 upgrade package.

You have remember that rider backrests with the squeeze type handle back rest harley said it won't work, but they do

I went to the dealer to get the straight info on upgrading.

It has nothing to do with the rear end, it's a mapping issue. Harley never made up a mapping protocol to upgrade the Trike.

You can upgrade the engine but will have to find someone with the correct equipment to do the mapping, which will void the warranty.

The 2019 has a new electrical system and how the various components "talk" to each other.

This is the same reason why you can't install the new GTS in older bikes, it's much more involved than just a simple swap.

The service manager is right of course, by the time you buy everything to upgrade the engine and pay the labor for the mapping and you really want a 117, you might as well buy a 2019 and have a new trike that's under warranty.

Oh well, it was a nice dream, I'll stick with the 107.

I think Harley didn't spend the $$ to get the 114 upgrade EPA certified for the trike. From what I (think) I understand you can't get get a 107 to 114 upgrade certified by EPA - it is vehicle dependent.

107 to 114 cu. in. is a 6% increase. You can achieve about that by simply changing the air cleaner & going to an external breather. I would contact DK Custom Products. They can help you.

You can do it. I have all the parts for the Stage III on my 2018 107 Stage II.....The parts and work order are at my Dealer in Boise. They Tunned the 107 Stage II with the H.D. Smart Tuner and Pro Tuner. Sure I could have waited and purchased a 2019 with the 114...but I didn't wait and I got a great price.

Now for AVALANCHE ALLEY to open so I can trailer the Scoot to Boise. Hopefully by the end of this month only 39 inches of the White Stuff here.....but Highway 21 has many giant slides some 40-50 foot deep.

Have about 500 miles on the Stage III on my 2018. Between the Torque Cam and the increase to 114 Cu Inch I am happy. The Trike pulls the grades like they are not there at all. Seldom have to down shift unless I want to. The Torques is simply impressive. I'm definitely not sorry I did the Stage III. Almost 100% of the time 2 up with the wife so the little extra umph is really nice.
