Champion Ultra trike conversion.

What tires and pressure do you have front and rear on your Champion Harley Ultra independent suspension conversion please? My Ultra is an 09 and presume I will need to put new tires on when the conversion is made. Champion don't recommend a particular tire. Ta. In my experience, there isn't any need to change the front tire once converted to a trike, the rear are car tires.

Many run anywhere from 38-41 psi in the front and anywhere from 24-28 psi in the rear. The car tires in the rear do not carry the same kind of weight as if they were on a car so the pressure in them is a lot lower.

So what type of car tyre goes on the back and what would you put on the front to replace the existing tyre? Some say something with a flatter profile, others Metzler 880? Others a Pilot? Kiorana.:Pepper:

The Tri Glide comes with a stock Dunlop, run 41 or better. Rear tires on most trikes run around 20 to 24....

</div>I believe most use a 225/60 15 (or 225/50 15 cant remember off hand) on the rear and the front is up for grabs, you will get many different opinions on the best to use. Myself, if your happy with a Dunlop, then run a Dunlop or a Metzler 880, both are good tires.<br />

you will find most run 38-41 psi in the front for best wear, you may have to experiment to find what you think works best for you.<br />

and same for the rear, most run 24-28 psi, you may have to find your comfort zone with pressure there too.<br />

The Lehman Manufacturers book recommended 29 in the front and 26 in the rear. I got 20,000 miles out of the Dunlop 402 and 40,000 thousand out of the Dunlop car tires. I am sure you will get lots of different opinions.

I believe they pick the size of tire so that the Trike runs level to the ground? As to the tire pressure, I'm paying attention!

Actually on a CSC ride height can be set.
Usually the set height as set from the factory is pretty much correct
but It can be changed if one desires a higher or lower ride height.

The ride height is set by the connecting links from the mono shock to the torsion bars, the links can be made longer or shorter to make the ride higher or lower. Tires are same on either Honda or Harley (just brand of tire changes) not the size.

I was running 28 bls in the rear tires on my trike and the treads showed wear in the center after 13,000 miles. I lowered to 22 to see what happens.

Here's a little write up I did to help determine the right pressure for you:
Water down a flat paved area(driveway).
Pump the rears up to about 35psi.
Start riding the bike forward/reverse over the wet paved area letting small amounts of air out until you see a full tread width flat tire track left in the wet pavement.
Check the tire pressure in each rear tire.
Repeat this process w/the various way your trike will be loaded and record the pressures for future reference.
That's how I arrived @ 20psi left and 22 right for my normal settings.
Mine is a Wing w/offset differential, hence the difference left to right!

It's a good idea to run a rear tire of the same size as the front tire, on the front. You get a flatter profile and about 1/16" more tread with the rear tire. I haven't had much luck with the stock Dunlap on the front, usually only good for abour 7K. Your riding style has much to do with tire wear.
