Copied from another form.......... At the end of the video is where it happens, real quick.
Last Saturday while traveling down a two-lane Highway that has speeds of 55 miles an hour somebody coming the other direction decided to suddenly do a u-turn causing me to t-bone them in the middle of the highway Snoopy will not be coming home again.
I do not have pictures from the scene I was not in any condition to take the pictures my body was in too much shock. Both myself and my daughter are doing better now but are very sore. I cannot walk without a cane or some sort of assistance at this point but I should fully recover. Both my daughter and I were wearing half helmets, jeans and leather vests. There is signs on my boots and both of our vests that they protected us.
I do have video of the accident when it happened the oncoming vehicle from the time they became visible until point of impact was 3 seconds. At 55 miles an hour it takes 4.5 seconds to stop on dry pavement plus between 1.5 and 2.3 seconds reaction time. I was not speeding and was breaking as hard as I could at the time of impact.
Snoopy's frame is damaged and therefore he is not repairable. I love that bike it was always reliable treated me well and protected me up till the end. The spoked wheels and wider rubber helps to absorb a lot of the impact saving both my daughter and myself additional injury.
If I had swerved to the left I would have gone into oncoming traffic and had a head-on collision. If I had gone to the right I would have impacted in a ditch and into trees which would not have been able to give way the way the side of the car did. I have watched the video 20 to 30 times and can see nothing that I could have done better. I will at some point in the near future post the video on my YouTube.
