Stay Away From Showrooms!

The last couple weeks we have been riding all over the mountains with two other couples on our trikes. We have done a pretty good job of covering all the rides from eastern Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. We ride between 150 and 250 miles a day and then return to the campground each evening worn out.

Of course whenever we come across a Harley dealership we stop in. It usually isns't an issue for me. I have everything I want on my 16 TG and tee shirts don't interest me much anymore.

Yesterday we stopped at the dealership in Bristol VA (Black Wolf HD). The gals went one way and all three of us went to the 19 trikes. I swear a dark blue and silver one said something to me! Anyway, to make a long story short, I am buying the darn thing.

I only took about a 30 minutes test drive on it but there were two things that impressed me. The torque difference and power between a 103 and 114 was much greater than I thought it would be, and the suspension was about 50% to 75% better. I don't actually pick it up until this afternoon and due to the rain from hurricane Michael we won't ride until Friday, but in the next 3 or 4 days while in this area we plan on putting 600 to 800 miles on her riding in the mountains and valleys. I can't wait!

Fantastic. It's great (and unfortunate ) that the moco makes these improvements and forces us to buy, lol. Seriously, enjoy your new ride and that great area to ride in.

I have that problem too, but I have will power - I end up leaving a dealer with a poker chip......whewwww.

I was at Black Wolf last May just before my accident. Also stopped at Black Bear and Smith Bros. = 3 poker chips and no new bike.

Be glad your wife was with you! The last time I stop by a dealer and left with a new ride. I enjoyed a great ride home. When my wife looked at the new bike she stood there looking at it. Turned and walked away saying "Big Boys and their toys" over and over again. Fast forward a week later I got home to give a brand new SUV sitting in the driveway. Thinking we had visitors I went to see who it was. I found my wife drinking coffee at the kitchen table. All she said was "Big Girls and their check books".

Thanks guys/gals! Only logged another 15 miles or so on her yesterday just to get back to campground from dealer, and that was in a light rain. The DW was with me and she loved the new suspension.

Spent a couple hours in my enclosed trailer installing all the extras I had removed from my 16. I have a couple more things to slap on this morning and I'll be done. It was a little nerve racking drilling four holes in the top of the tour pack as usual, but the luggage rack is on perfectly. Should have some pics in the next couple days. If I can figure out how to post again I will.

Shorter ride today. Saturday we will do the Back Of The Dragon. Either Sunday or Monday we will probably do the Snake again, either way I should have at least 500 or more miles on her before we head to Savanna Tuesday.

Info center is a HUGE improvement. It is crisper/cleaner looking and it responds immediately when using navigation. The two main complaints about my 16 was the ride and the info center was like using something from the 80's. Looks like Harley took care of those two things nicely.

Happened to me. At a dealer passing out posters for the three wheel rally in Deadwood and there sat a MC Prowler, all bright, sparkling red. Dealer was all over me offering all manner of goodies for us to take it out of his showroom. Long to short - it's sitting in the garage. Bad part is due to some health issues the thing has just over 600 miles on it after a year. But, one more hurdle and I'm "on the road again".

The above link has a photo of Marcus's new TG. It is the same color as mine. I won't have a chance to get a pic or figure out how to post for awhile. This dark blue and silver combo looks black/silver at times.
