Default I have a Question on the HD side bags

On a Trike HD sells these side bags the attach to the front of the back fenders.

I can't for the life of me think of the name and how much $$ they co$t.

A few months ago I seen some on another site CHEAPER then the HD ones.

Can some one help me out with this,

    Thanks Bob.

I do all my own installs. I've been doing this since the early 80's and learned who to trust and who NOT to trust

I believe See Thru Braz has a no hole mounting system for trike saddle bags. Worth looking at

No matter how cheap they are, I will not be buying them, I have a friend that has them, they was on when he bought the trike, sure don't hold much and I couldn't believe the size holes in fender when he took them off

    All for now Trampas

I wouldn't own a trike without them. Well worth the money - to me. Very very convenient for small items.

If you think the hole size is big, You should see the size of the hole that the trunk door makes.

Yes they are pricey, but I also think they are worth the investment. But just an FYI, Boardtracker offers free shipping on all orders over $99.

BTW, I purchased my TG from Boardtracker and had them install the trike saddlebags at the time of purchase and they are installed correctly.

Al and the gang at SeeThruBraz have the best system and you don't have to drill holes in your inner fenders. The bags themselves run around $450.00..

They also have a system using the standard saddle bag guard bags modified and attached to the inner fenders for 1/3 of the $$$$$ and hold twice as much as the HD TG bags. These are what I run with and haven't had any issues in 3 years.

    Give them a call.

My HD Saddlebags were already on the trike when I got it, and were installed correctly. To me they're like having a glovebox, center console, and door pocket on the trike. Keep my microfiber towels, travel size Purple Slice spray for waterless bug and grime removal, checkbook for local errands, pair prescription sunglasses, and on long trips great place for extra frozen bottle of water wrapped in microfiber towel. They're so useful and convenient that I wouldn't want to be without them.

I also carry eye drops, chapstick, 2 disk locks, mileage book, windshield cleaner and a camera when on vacation for quick access.

I tend to pack everything but the kitchen sink when I travel, so those saddlebags are a lifesaver for little things you want to get to in a hurry. Better then $500 on chrome that doesn't do anything - except look pretty.

As you said = useful and convenient.

See Through Braz modified HD Guard Bags with No Drilling Application for trikes. Still better to see member photos from a few angles mounted on their actual trikes.

I read the review on this setup. Not very promising, but confirmed my experience.

I have always worried about tape and heat. Every single tape I've ever used would eventually come unglued with high heat - every single time - not hearsay, my real experience. That's why I will only go with the bolt on bags. That way I KNOW they won't get bumped/knocked off.

Maybe there is a tape out there that will stay put, but I'm not going to trust it with my expensive camera, cell phone, etc. I have no problem with holes....after all there are hundreds of holes all over the bike.

Tried Industrial Velcro, but it failed to hold when temperatures climbed and remained above 96*. The only product that has consistantly held for my use under that heat is 3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener TB3550. It has a temperature rating of 200°F. Mind you, I've not used it to hold any significant weight bearing items, so I can't speak to how it might perform under weight and prolonged heat.

I looked at these a year or so ago and decided to try the triple windshield bag instead for holding those small items. I can get my phone, sunglasses, sun block, and a couple more items in there but not much else. DW kept wanting to consider saddlebags. But we went with the pouch cover for the driver's backrest instead. She can have her phone and several other small items stored there plus I am running a charger up to it for her phone. IMHO a windshield bag and backrest bag hold more than those saddlebags, plus you can take them on and off (no holes).

ISP-FL, I also have the windshield pouches too. They really don't hold very much of anything. I did mention that I carry everything but the kitchen sink didn't I? LOL

The windshield pouches are too small for my cell phone. What I do carry in them are, pair of reading glasses(one pouch), ear plugs, mints, couple of SD cards. On really hot days I also carry a small spray bottle of water. A quick spritz is like a blast of air conditioning while riding.

The back rest pouch is great for the passenger. I ride solo so that wouldn't help me at all. I can reach a back up insulated drink bottle or camera from either of the saddlebags while riding.

Shapeshifter, I think that 3M plastic stuff is what I get with my I-Pass. I also bought a roll of it from the internet for other things. It really does hold a lot of weight, but I'm more concerned about the glue on the back. So far I haven't had a problem with what I do use - for my wireless remote controller for my heated gear (not heavy). I bet if you covered the whole back of the saddlebag it might work. Since I don't care about putting holes in the fiberglass, I'll stay with the complete piece of mind the holes provide.

..........Shapeshifter, I think that 3M plastic stuff is what I get with my I-Pass.
As mentioned earlier, my saddlebags were already on the trike and installed by dealer with the HD hardware. For my Mud Flaps I wanted a no drill method and tried the so called Industrial Velcro Hook & Loop Tape. As soon as the excessive heat and high humidity arrived this past summer, I came out one morning and discovered the glue had oozed and seeped from behind the strips and my mud flaps were dangling at odd angles.

The 3M Dual Lock Product has worked extremely well for my Mud Flap reinstall. As said, haven't used it where it would be subjected to heavy weight and excessive heat for any lengthy period of time. However, 3M does offer higher density versions that say can be combined for increased strength. Just haven't had any use beyond installing no drill Mud Flaps below:Name: 20180612_102938.jpg
