Hello,
I'm still a newbie here, posted in introduce yourself (Howdy from San Angelo Texas).
Anyway I remember my Company Commander yelling and having us yelling the very same we are "North American Fighting Blue Jackets" out on the grinder in San Diego CA. circa 1981
I think I may have given away that I'm getting old, I guess.
Thanks for the post,
David Hilton Ret. USN ETC/SS
You think you are getting old. I was on that same grinder in 1967.
I remember walking/running around those grinders in San Diego during the summer of 1964. Most of RTC San Diego is now civilian housing. The O club is now a restaurant called "The Corvette Diner" with a nice 1959 Corvette sitting in the entry way. During my time in the Navy I was on three surface craft and 4 submarines.

Well since y'all are showing your age, I was on that grinder on 18 September of 1957. Exactly 7 days after my 17th birthday.

I was attending a joint school and the Navy instructor told us it was difficult to teach because there was no water there. We had to show him the way to the drinking fountain. Happy birth day sailors and thanks for your service.
