Conversion of a 2014 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic to a Trike ?

I can’t wait for the comments

I faced the very same question when I decided to convert my 2014 Ultra Limited. I weighed my options and chose to convert.

1. I had added serval expensive options during the past four years that I would have wanted to add to a new factory trike.

2. I’m the original owner and have always stayed on top of my maintenance

3. The color was a one year only and I have never seen a trike this color

4. I have less than 20K miles

5. I’m hoping to sell most of the take off parts to offset the cost a little

The only item I didn’t consider was my extended warranty. I purchased a 7 year full protection plan from my manufacture on date of purchase. Now I’m told that it will be void because of the conversion. I had hoped the engine and transmission would still be covered. I have been told I can cancel the the policy and get a refund for the remaining coverage.

I hope this helps.

Is it less expensive to convert my HD to a trike or just purchase one?

Thomas, Welcome to Trike Talk Forum from West Virginia.:wave4:

Your motorcycle is worth more to you than a potential buyer beating you down.

Take the above post to heart regarding the decision of converting over buying one already done.

You could easily find a 2014 Trike already built (Triglide or others) and sell yours and maybe (most probably) save some money ... or you could spend time this winter having yours converted.

If it is a financial decision, provided you can 'unload' your bike quickly, then a used one would be the answer.

Warranty Update

Good morning, the information regarding HD ESP warranty was correct. I verified it with my original purchasing dealer and my 7 year warranty covering my 2014 FLHTK until 7/05/21 isn't worth the paper it's written on any longer. They tell me to expect about $1,000 back from the policy. The cost with wheel and tire protection was $3400. I never used the wheel & tire or much of the actual bike warranty. Something to consider if you have a similar situation. My warranty loss would have been the same if I had purchased a new or used factory trike.

I failed to mention, I love the independent rear suspension and there probably isn't m/any other Daytona Blue Pearl trikes out there. For sure not any Triglides.
