How Wide is Too Wide

I saw a picture of a GW trike with a wide front tire. Almost looked like a rear tire off a cruiser. Can that possibly give better handling characteristics?

Both EuroWing and Hannigan offer these "wide tire" front ends.

At approx. $3,000+ I do not see any benefit worth that much over a rake kit and a Avon trike tire.

Apples to Oranges here....Maybe?.....I had a 2013 New Sportster with wide tires and low speed handling was terrible ,I had to man handle it to drop it into tight parking spaces...Even making slow turns was a job...IMP Wide tires are just for show...Like Crome...Or loud pipes....

At the risk of getting flamed, my opinion.

I absolutely love my 180 front end from Hannigan. First, understand that $2995 includes the $995 steer-lite. Then a new fender, brake lines, the wheel and the tire.

There are a lot of threads on this, just google "hannigan 180 front end".

Personally, I have 11,000 on mine, with very little tire wear. In this part of the country, it's not uncommon to change front tires at 4,000 miles. It handles fine, and I am an aggressive rider. I find myself wishing that Boss Hoss would offer a 180 front end. This day and age, everyone wants to go to those 26" and larger wheels with a dinky little bit of rubber around it. I'll take the 180x65 front, 15" or 16" in the back with a nice good sidewall.

You really don't notice any difference in handling, unless it's better that stock. What you do notice, is things like when they're paving one lane of a road, and you have to climb that 2" lip of pavement, or a steel grate bridge, or a road they've ground the pavement off before they pave it... things like that are a lot less noticeable. Just my opinion. Hopefully, you can find the very long thread by a fellow, that, as I recall, tracked his Hannigan 180 front end, complete with pictures, for 40 or 50,000 miles. I believe he was one of or the first to get one.

OK, so I'm pretty sure I posted a picture of my google search results mentioned above. Looks like maybe the Post Police deleted it? dunno. But if you google "70,003 miles on the Hannigan HMS 180 Front End Original Tire" you will find interesting information.

I can't see spending thousands to extend front tire mileage when I have such capable alternatives.
