    Default Today I did it.......

After 35 years and one month I retired from Chrysler. Didn't think I ever would, but it was time to go. Like King Richard Petty once said. When your job is no longer fun, then it's time to leave. One guy was joking around with what they said when Elvis had left by saying, "Wally Meyers has left the building." Now about monday I'll start looking for another job. I have had many thoughts about trucks, BIG trucks. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Will be going to Milwaukee tomorrow night (about 30 miles away) for my daughters birthday. Will really have to be alert while driving as they are having the 105 year Harley party this weekend in Milwaukee and the bikes are all over the place.

I retired from the Military July 97 after 28 great years. Took 3 yrs off and we really enjoyed it. Went back to work for the Govt. in 2000 and love my job. Have plenty of time to ride the trike and camp plus be with my wonderful wife. Don't rush into a job unless U need the money. enjoy the retirement for a while. Congrats on the retirement.

Feb. of this year I did the same thing. I sure wouldn't want to go to work again. I did have a couple of offers but I said no thanks. You will enjoy the time especially for riding. we use the trike almost everywhere we go these days.

Hey, have a little faith, buddy--I'm sure you'll find some fun stuff to do soon. Like jumping on your trike and riding it!

Like Katfish, I retired from the navy back in the 90s and sure wish I'd enjoyed that time a little longer. But I started teaching only a month or so afterwards and now I can't wait for my second retirement--at least 5 years away.

    Default Forced Out

Sadly I am retired, not by choice, but by WorldCom... Enjoy the time driving and seeing the country... there is a lot to experience even for us old guys! On a trike the view is the best!

I guess retirement is a frame of mind. When I retired in 97 we took off for about 3 yrs and just enjoyed each other and the Goldwing. Had a great time. I was 45 when I retired. That was really too early for me to stay retired. I was offered another job and we took it. Love the job. Gives me plenty of time to enjoy being with Cathy and camping, riding the trike and being with family. (nothing like it was in the Coast Guard). There are plenty of part time jobs out there if U feel U have to work.

Like Juju I have about 5 or 6 more years till I can retire again.

    Things will get better.

    Best of luck.

I retired in 2013 after driving long haul and never seeing home, out 5 to 7 weeks at a time. Bored don't think so, not enough time to do all I want now. Been on 2 cruises wife bought me the trike after being off two wheels for 20 plus years. May take some time to get out of the guilt mode of not working. They say find a dream job you love and you will be happy well found mine. Like my trike wish I had found this sooner. Enjoy your new lease on life don't sell it short.

Work is over-rated, now I cant believe I ever had the gumption to go through the daily grind all those years.

Something to do and something to look forward to are the keys, start planning once in a lifetime rides.

If you can afford financially to retire and the opportunity presents itself, go for it you'll never regret doing so. You never know when your health or your spouses will dictate your future and it will definitely change the roads you travel. Sorry for being so gloom & doom to such a happy time in a mans life.

A man once told me these are supposed to be the Golden Years but the only thing golden was his urine.

I have several friends from my old company that are still working. Say they don't want to retire wouldn't know what to do with themselves. I think it's more they can't afford to, who would want to work into the last 20 or so years they have left when health isn't something that improves with age? Kids are already asking who's getting the house the trike or the cars..I tell them work hard cause I am spending most of it by the time I go.
