Just to clarify if you get a new plug from Harley you’ll see that they use an O ring and with the Loctite already on the treads..Gone are the copper washers that are reused…I don’t like reusing rubber I rings so every time I change my oil I buy a new drain plug and it comes as a kit…. I think bad mouthing your dealer was a little premature…

This wasn't Loctite of any sort. The threads cleaned up easily, unlike they would with Loctite. It was Teflon sealant like you might use on natural gas pipes. I'm very familiar with both. That O ring was split when I removed the plug. It was surely split when it was reinstalled at the last oil change or maybe split when the plug was over-tightened.

There's no mention of using Loctite in the manual, only replacing the O ring, which I did. If you knew my past experience with these guys you'd understand my irritation with finding something as unprofessional as this in a simple oil change. These are the guys who only changed two out of four spark plugs at each service interval because they didn't know how to get the gas tank off.

The reason they say use a New O Ring is that they are a one time washer twice I had the washer come apart when I remove the plug.. And I didn’t over tighten and I didn’t reuse..Order a new one….And look at the treads…Like I said it’s a kind of dry wax loctite (white/ tan color) it works by making a chemical reaction as you thread it in…..

There is no mention of Teflon in the manual, the O ring could have been damaged during the install because of the Teflon, if too much is used it will cause the O ring to push out of its groove causing the O ring to tear

Harley has Never used Loc -Tite on the drain plugs @ the factory, only the brushed on Teflon

Just got back from a 600 mile round trip to VA. Except for the hour and a half back-up at the Annapolis Bay Bridge coming back today it was great ride. That back up at the bridge was first gear all the way. I have very bad memories of that exact same situation at that same bridge on my '78 Shovel. It did not go well. The M8 Freewheeler didn't pay it any mind. Just did it's thing and when we were clear of the mess kicked it back up to 65 the rest of the trip. It was a bit toasty too at around 92º F.

Saw this nice Free when I stopped for a break at Steakouts on Rt 40 when I got back into Jersey. Couldn't spot the owner. Too many people there. Good ride that was much needed.

Coolest Cooler Ever ... We don't go anywhere without a few bottles of water. Easy to throw them into a lunch box style cooler for the car but not quite so easy to fit them safely into the bike. Hate to spend $3.00+ for a bottle of water when we are out. Found this super Cool Cooler on Amazon and the measurements looked like it would sit nicely in the bike trunk. Arrived this morning and what a "Cool" piece it is.

Fits 10 regular size beer cans ... I paid $30.00 for it. The price changed frequently. When it dropped, I grabbed it. The quality seems really nice.

Looks awfully small for 10 beer cans. MAYBE a six pack. Would you have a link for this?

    Default Hopefully an improvement

Ordered and received from a H.D. Dealer out of Massachesetts an additional Brake/Turn Signal/License Plate bracket for my 2019 Freewheeler..."Time Machine". I also found on Ebay the exact same H.D. License Plate Frame that was initially on my 2008 Anniversary Softail Custom, then on my 2015 SGS. Purchased an American Flag Motorcycle License Plate, again from Ebay plus 2 H.D. Reflectors from Beach House H.D. in Shallotte NC. Attached the reflectors using 3M Extreme Tape to a couple of flat aluminum pieces that are bolted via the License Plate bolts.

My desire was to balance out the rear appearance plus possibly adding an additional level of safety when the headlights of another vehicle approaches from behind. Already added Eagle Lights LED Strobe Brake/Turn/Running lights plus a Custom Dynamics Luggage Rack Run/Brake light. Maybe, just maybe, the combination of license plates and reflectors act as potential mudguards but certainly not a primary reason for the addition. Certain that there are those that disdain any and all reflectors....I am simply not one of those. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

When I put mine on I figured it had to help with cooling somewhat. If you add more heat sinks it would follow that it would shed more heat, so I'm going to take your heat check as gospel and decide that I was right all along. Love that color of your trike, by the way.

I have been thinking about these for my Tri. Do you have to take them off to change the plugs?

Just had mine done today with a fluid flush. Now there's a squeaking sound when the rear brake pedal is pressed that seems to be coming from the master cylinder and I'm getting some fluid weeping out of the rear AND front brake reservoirs. Sent the shop a video with sound and they suggested the brake pedal shaft needs some grease, but I'm doubting that. I'm thinking they overfilled the reservoirs or the gaskets aren't in properly. The screws seem tight. They said to bring it back, but I've got back to back doctors to visit the next two days which makes it Friday before they can check it. Any thoughts on what I might check in the meantime?

If your reservoirs are leaking, either they are too full and or the screws are not tight enough

Give your brake pedal a shot of WD 40, see if it quiets down

On my 15 and 17 I drilled and tapped the pedal shaft for grease fittings, I will end up doing this one soon, just as I did the notorious shift shaft bushing

Took it back to Atlantic County HD where the fluid change was done and they replaced both brake reservoir covers and gaskets. No charge. Got to give them props for that one. 40 miles home and dry as a bone. Hopefully that's the end of that for another 2 years.

Good on you, is the rear pedal still squeaking?
