    Default Motor trike Gl1800 extreme rough ride

    I have a 2004 Motor Trike GL1800 2012 conversion kit and from the start I have had a very rough ride front and back. Have tried from shock adjustments to tire pressure and nothing has helped. Wondering if anyone else has this problem or any suggestions. Wife has 2008 GL CSCconversion with 2016 kit and the ride is so superior to mine. Looking for any ideas.

    On a 14 year old trike there are many possibilities from fork maintenance to kit maintenance and repair. A call to Motortrike would be in order for the kit part. They can tell you things to check.

    For the front end I would start by having the forks serviced with new bushing, seals and fluid; maybe some new springs also.

    Good luck. It should ride better than you say it is doing.
    Wing with Roadsmith kit, Traxxion Ak20 cartridges and Accuride System.

    The front, being 14 years old, most likely begs for a front fork refurbish. Including new fork springs. IMHO opinion, these should be OEM springs. Heavier springs, progressive(for example), are not needed just because it's a trike.

    Check the ADV. It may be stuck, which means there's hardly any front suspension working at all.

    Also, the 41psi in the front tire is a myth! I found the sweet spot for my trike was 36psi.

    As for the trike portion, you don't tell us which model you have??? If it's a solid axle if will be a harsher ride than IRS.

    If it's IRS, what is you setting for the air ride? Any evidence of either rear shock leaking? What rear tire pressure are you using? I found 22 to 24psi in my rear tires to be the best for me.

    I'm running 24 psi. Rear tire, I 'm running 27 lbs rear suspension, 36 psi front tire. It is an IRS and if it is anti dive stuck how do I know and how do I un stick it?

    My biggest complaint with my 2010 Adventurer from day one has been the front end stiff ride.

    I believe Hondas system just plain stinks from the getgo. I didn't learn anything from my 99 Valk same issue.

    If you have progressive springs it just gets worse.

    As for the rear. Im running the shocks on about their softest setting at 30 lbs with a full tank 25psi at a half or less. You will need a spanner wrench to adjust the shocks. I also weight in at 220pounds.

    Front tire at 36psi rears at 22psi.

    As others have said at 14 years old. Id have both ends checked out by a competent service person.

    Dawg, not sure, but think you are a Road Smith pilot. Sure agree with you on the OEM fork springs....your tire pressures are of interest to me....36 front and no cupping, are your running the Cobra Trike Tire in the front? 22/24 in the rears, that seems low to me, but I may give it as shot, see how it goes, I'm running 28, two up. Do you ride two up?
