2019 Tour Pak Is Different

A few days ago I ordered a tour pack relocation kit from J&P. Their web site assured me that it would fit a 2019 Trike. I know I read somewhere that my tour pack is slightly larger but I just figured the bolts and mounting was still the same as before.

Kit arrived and I should have known it was wrong after looking at the directions. They said "remove the 4 bolts holding on the existing tour pack". My tour pack is held on by six of course. Anyway I remove mine and held the bars up against the bottom of my tour pack and what do you know, not only did the holes not line up but they were drilled way too small.

Anyway, I called J&P and they looked up the part number and insisted it would fit my new Trike. I assured them it would not and I wasn't going to pay to have it shipped back. She finally agreed to let me print the return shipping label for free.

Guess I'll stop in the local Harley dealership and see what they have available to move the tour pack back. It will probably be a lot more than $130.00.

Anyone will tell ya it fits ! As long as your willing to modify something to fit. As in the word “Universal”

Yea! Whenever I read "universal" why is it that your is alway the only model that it doesn't fit????

Another trick if you want to use the existing mount , measure your new offset , drill new holes in the tour pac . Tape the existing holes on the bottom , and fill with epoxy. I’ve done that on others a few times as it will work as long as you don’t relocate more than 3” back. And use fender washers on the inside of the box mount bolts.

Years ago i called J and P.......And asked specifically about a luggage rack and would fit my Victory Gunner.....And the guy on their tech line said yes, And i said are you sure because the will it fit box was ambiguous as to if it would fit, He assured me it would, Well it didn't ....

And when i sent it back for a refund they refused ....They said i tried to install it damaging it.....No way all i did was lay it on the fender and the mounts were no where close it even try to fit...After a long argument they charged me a restocking fee...

That was back in 2015,,,,,And the last time i have and will ever do business with them...

Not 100% sure why your J&P would not fit.

I know the DK Custom Tour-Pak Relocator Kit fits the 2019 Model Tri Glides...I've seen it with my own eyes. You can see them HERE.



Less expensive too, and has a Life Time Warranty.

Possibly the J&P unit was attempted to be installed between the body and the TP bracket? There are 6 larger bolts used there.

The DK unit is designed to be installed between the Tour-Pak and the Tour-Pak mounting bracket.

Kevin, the kit you are showing looks almost like the one J&P sent me, except no cross piece. It was made to go between the OEM brackets and the tour pack. Your kit is showing 4 bolts just like theirs, the new 19 trikes have 6 bolts.

From looking at your photo I'm about 80% sure it wouldn't work on a 2019 either.

I'm going to have to go look at a newer 2019 Tri Glide. The 2019's I've seen have only 4 bolts. Also, the Harley Parts Catalog is still showing that the Tour-Pak and Tour-Pak bracket are the same part #'s for 2019 as for 2017 and 2018.

Wouldn't be the first time that HD has made an undocumented change part way into a model year.

Kevin, In your adventures to uncover the mystery of the Tour Pack bolt patterns, maybe, just maybe, you might want to take a chance on the 2019 114c.i. M8. The overall function of the trike seems to warrant a second look even though the MOCO may not have all the goofy engine problems fully identified. And, if you and Mary don't get off that 2014 with an accumulating bazillion miles, the resale value will not make it advantageous to trade? Unfortunately, I am having to go into surgery this coming week to fix torn rotator cuff tendons and so will not be able to ride my beautiful Scorched Orange/Black Denim trike for about the next 90 days And, the weather is getting perfect for riding here in South Florida Bob

Man, sorry to hear about the needed surgery. Good to know the recovery time will be relatively quick.

Regarding you not playing nice, and tempting me...

I've ridden one, and it is taking all the self-control I have to stay with the '14 a little while longer. I've been wanting an M8 for a couple of years now.

Nothing wrong with my '14, in fact, I have it exactly how I want it. Have not changed/added anything on it in quite a while.

I just really like the M8 (minus the "goofy" problems that randomly pop up for a few) engine. It is a great power-plant.

Fortunately I get to ride bikes/trikes with the M8 periodically to quell the urge to get one.

Kevin, I went through the parts department at the Pensacola FL Harley store yesterday to try to figure this thing out. They did some research and finally figured out that Harley doesn't market any type of relocation kit. When I told him about the one from J&P (Kuryakin) he did some more investigating and called me back. He said Kuryakin no longer lists the TG relocation kit as being available for a 2019 model.

My buddy is camped right next to me. We looked at his 2017 TG with a kit he thinks he ordered from you. Without taking his off and just measuring what we could it looks like your should fit. We will only be at this location for another couple of weeks but I may attempt to order yours.

Installed dk customs tourpack relocater kit on 2019 tri glide. No problems with fitment,bolts right up.I would recommend having a helper with the installation.

If it's ordered by noon on Tuesday it will go out Tuesday afternoon and should be delivered by Thursday, Friday at the latest. Use USPS Priority mail when choosing shipping, it's faster than UPS.

Thanks Kevin, I ordered it this morning. Due to my internet abilities, or the campground wifi connection, the delivery address reverted back to my billing address in Florida. I got it corrected by phone though so I should have it delivered to this Alabama CG by the end of the week, can't wait!
