Default How to save you money

I could have saved $2500 by doing the install myself. IMO - I have better than average mechanical skill set. However I would want to participate in a conversion myself before taking on a full blown project on my own bike. The instructions I downloaded from thei website were very detailed. I did save several dollars on crating, shipping and taxes which would have been included if I had the kit shipped to my home. Those three items combined would have been 1/3 the cost of labor.

Recently I took my newly converted bike to the dealership with a couple of annoying issues that appeared after the conversion. Left front blinker flashing rapidly and the Trip A & B feature was not working. Tucson HD determined the left lighted control switch pack had gone bad as did the Custom Dynamics LED turn signal assembly. Both were functioning as designed prior to the conversion. I'll chalk it up to "cost of conversion". All systems are working fine now. Oh yeah, I had to replace the original 4 year old battery shortly after the conversion too.

Not unusual for the C/D LED failure, that was part of the conversion kit, but the trip meter being inop has ZERO to do with the conversion. Could be possibly traced back to something as simple as a battery change or being disconnected. The electronics on these motorcycles today are very delicate. Charging the battery can sometime cause intermittent faults in the ECM/computer. Glad you got squared away.

I am glad to see your post. I had almost decided on a Lehman kit when I went from their site to Facebook it looked like they weren't keeping up with their Facebook page which made me wonder about their business. I hope this works well for you. I am interested and am following your posts.

I understand your concerns. I encourage anyone else to jump in and share or to correct me. Most of the history of Lehman can be found on the web so I'm not going to get into it. We started looking at Trike conversion kits early in 2018 and decided on Lehman based on their history with the Motor Company. Good or bad I believe they had a good understanding of Harley's touring platform and a good product. I did a web search for authorized dealers selling Lehman kits. There were several of them and after emailing a few Madness Cycle in Murfreesboro, TN. was the only one that actually called to discuss.

I live in AZ so Murfreesboro was a long way to travel. I discovered in the process Lehman was purchased by Champion Trike and Sidecar in Garden Grove, CA. I believe what is left of Lehman is their name, reputation and the body molds. The running gear under the Lehman body is all Champion from what I can tell. Theirs is a quality kit with nothing left out. Bill Swift at Champion and Tony at Madness Cycle made it all happen. By our choice the conversion was done at Champion's factory in Garden Grove, CA. It was an awesome experience and both did their parts well.

I don't believe Champion is putting much effort into the Lehman website, that is why at this time it is not up to date. The Lehman Owners Group is defunct as well. Knowing all of this now I would still choose the Trinity LLS because I wanted the Tri-Glide body shape and design. I'm old school with the look but have so many more improvements under the hood with Champions LLS independent suspension kit and frame.

Please note, to the best of my knowledge if you are converting a 2014 or newer touring bike with ABS and Reflex braking you will loose those features. I have not been told why but I believe it is because the existing ABS controller on your 2014 and newer is a 2 channel system and is unable to work with three wheels. It's a price to pay but so far hasn't been an issue. ABS brakes were not available on the Tri-Glide until 2019 is what I have seen. That said I would imagine they are working on offering them soon. I believe other manufactures are already offering ABS.

Default 2014 Victory with Lehman conversivon

Hi, I am a newbie to the forum and happy Lehman owner. Last May I had an unfortunate accident while touring in Missouri on my 2013 Victory CCT. When we received the settlement I was torn between adding 3rd wheel (mostly for wife’s peace of mind) or going back to 2 wheels. I finally decided to do both. I bought an older Vstar from a friend and found my tike at Desert Thunder Motorsports in Kingman, AZ.

It was a new factory conversion that had been sitting in the showroom since 2015. I flew to Vegas, rented a car and drove to Kingman and bought it. I received confirmation from Champion/Lehman that they would honor the standard 3 year warranty and from Victory that the conversion would not nullify the factory warranty from Polaris. So I have basically my old bike with the Lehman conversion... and a bike and trike kit that is from defunct manufacturers. I love it. I test rode a tri-glide and hated the feel, IRS is the way to go.

I will try to post a pic.

Just like Clint Black says in his song Cowboys Like Us "...take the long way around back to square one..."

    Default There is another band

Another band comes to mind from the old days. "Super Tramp", one of my favorites over the years. A song on their Breakfast in America album "Take the Long Way Home" It's kind of been my theme song over the years. Finally going back home to live soon. Looking forward to all of the great riding and fellowship with my HOG friends. Really going to put some serious miles on my conversion.
