    Default Russell Daylong Seat

Short ride again today to warm up trike for oil change. So it's going to be until spring until I can take a Daylong ride but so far I'm loving the fit and feel of the new seat. Still moving backrest around to find the sweet spot.

Daylong is top self. Doesn’t seem to matter what bike they’re on, always get rave reviews by owners. The seat looks really good too.

Looks to be comfy, wish your pics were more inline and straight to really see it good, looks like extra padding along the sides

I went to their website, wow, I guess they are pricey, to rich for me, I get along with the stock seat just fine, I went with a sundowner on my road king, it was good, went to sturgis and was very happy with that seat, but I guess all seats are pricey, some less and some more.

    All for now Trampas

The best saddles I've had were Corbin re-worked stock saddles but I was close to where they did it so was able to ride right there and they did a custom fit.

My next best saddle has been an Ultimate. To the best of my knowledge they don't do custom work. Theirs is compromise but it worked in my case.

I finally did try a Russell. It too is somewhat a compromise but they try to custom fit even if you aren't on site. But you can be on site for a custom fit.

Your best bet is a local upholstery shop if they'll do a motorcycle saddle. So do some searching and see if you can get someone to try a custom fit. They all can get foam of different density and can shape it from there. At least if you have a local source you can keep going back until you got that perfect saddle.

Thanks for rotating pics. The instructions on rotating is not in the sticky how to post pics.

To those who suggested local seat makers I did try one and it was better but I should have just bit the bullet and went Russell from the start , $200 to modify stock seat at Bike week on top of Russel price invested now. Weather for riding pretty much gone for the year but it sure feels nice to just sit on the seat and go Vroom Vroom

I'm looking at the Russell Daylong seats. Do you have the heated version? IS yours leather?

Un heated , Vinyl. But I'ts great. From mini bikes to dirt bikes to Japanese bikes , British bikes, 2 sporty's , a Victory and now my Touring class Harleys this is hands down the best and most comfortable I've ever been. I've had back surgery and still some residual back problems and used to get of the bike with a limp after 1.5 hours. Absolutely no limp or pain after 4 hours on the Russell.

I always wanted to try one myself. So when my Roadmaster Indian turned out to have a lousy seat, I tried a Ultimate. It was okay but I hated the remote for turning on the heat. Really dumb design when a switch is right there and not in your pocket when needed. So I sent my original with heat to Russell. Comparing the Ultimate to the Russell, I can go all day every day with either. However, the Russel is much firmer so I predict it will last longer. Pure guess but that's my feeling. With the Ultimate, at 3,000 miles I felt it was broke-in. I'm at 7,000+ now with the Russel and I'm not sure it's broke-in yet or not. If feels the same as the first day. But I don't think you can go wrong with a Russell. If you go leather though, get the rain cover. I didn't so had to order it separate but they had me on file so it wasn't a problem other than waiting. I used it on the first trip I took so was glad I got it.

Would you recommend the backrest that you have? I have a HD backrest. How close is the vinyl compared to the factory material on your passenger backrest? I have 2 seats for my TG. One heated that I took off my limited. and the factory that came on my TG. I'm thinking about sending in my heated seat to have that done. Don't know if I want leather or vinyl.

I was undecided and changed my mind several times but finally went with the Russell backrest. Glad I did , folds flat for passenger access. Couple trys to set best position but its good now. Expensive to add if already have a Harley rest but thats the boat I was in but happy with the Russell option. The $75 pouch option could be better executed , if I had to find something to complain about. I think Russell vinyl is better than factory but I know absolutely nothing about vinyl to say its a valid opinion.

I have the HD backrest and HD make a pouch that goes on the back of that. The pouch on the Russell backrest looks like a big loose pouch. I think I'm going to send in my heated seat to get done.

Is the backrest on yours adjustable like the HD one?
