And after looking at it, I had the following question.....

Who came up with the idea for the fiberglass bodies for the vw trikes.

I was told Stires came before WilMac, was it their idea?

The fiberglass bodied trike design is generally attributed to Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Google his name and you'll see images of his creations.

I was already aware of Roth, and had looked at some of his designs. Thanks for the response

I am only a few years into this Trike ownership thing, but I have learned a lot.

Not sure how much I like the fiberglass body, they do look nice, but they can be a pain just the same.

I learned here that I own one of Ed Roth's 1973 designed trike and body, did he build it, I do not think so, but from what I did find out one owner did rub elbows with Ed and others in their group.

Interesting what one can learn, I know that I want to keep my trike and hopefully get it fixed up nicely.

Don’t knock the fiberglass, it was the resin that sucked. I still believe there is a sheet or 3 involved in the new technology Like building a concrete road with out using rebar.
