i actually find your choice of the phrase "feel like sitting on the seat instead of in the seat" kind of spooky. that is exactly how i describe riding the 2018. we have a 2010 and feel like we are part of the bike when we ride. When I took a demo out last year I felt like I was riding above the seat instead of in the seat.

Hopefully, my purchase from DK Customs will be the resolution.

If not, we'll be looking into a modified or new seat.

Never talked to a passenger who rode a solid axle Trike who didn't have issues with the ride, new seat, old seat, no seat, or any seat. Nature of the beast.

Default 2016 Project Rushmore changes to rear seating

Your rear seating area is 2" wider and I believe same amount longer than the 2013 and earlier trikes. This was part of Project Rushmore changes in 2014 for the growing size of American riders and passengers and just plain more comfort. At 125 pounds it is no wonder centrifugal forces are moving a person towards the edge. The first thing is to move the tour pack forward to the closest location. I believe they come stock all the way back. That may be enough to get closer to the rider and more security. If not then try a small pillow behind to get closer to your main squeeze. You may want to research seats or merely placing something of more friction on the seat such as sheepskin or whatever you can source. On another note, after 108,000 on trikes from 2011 and up, and even after trying the 2020 Triglide with dial adjust shocks softer rides were only obtained by going to DK Customs Pro-Action coil over shocks which are WONDERFUL with adjustable dampening and preload. DK Customs is now offering an additional coil over shock called NEX-GEN which has internal adjusting dampening so one only has to set the spring preload. My order for NEX-GEN and lift kit is going in on 1-16-22 for our 5th trike, a 2015 Triglide. More important is to drop the air pressure on the tires to 20-22 lbs (Google Lehman Trike Theory Technical Highlights) Good luck eliminating the "slide" and enjoy the care free experience on a Triglide.

    From a former product engineer!

I have a Mustang Deluxe Touring seat on mine and my wife goes to sleep on the back while riding. LOL. It is funny when I roll off the throttle or tap the brakes and I hear/feel the helmet tap on the back of my head. LOL.

You can try "handicap solutions non slip adhesive pads for helping with the sliding issue, inexpensive solution without modifying your seat. It worked for my wife (4'10 and 100 lbs) and other passengers on both VW trike and Tri Glide.

Steve - My bride had the same problem when I got my TriGlide. She is 5’ and 100lbs. We both use a sheepskin pad called butt buffer. I’m not a fan of the name but it checks all boxes for us. They are heavy sheepskin over a polymer pad. The backing is textured so it doesn’t move and it’s thick enough it forms around you.

    Here’s a link https://buttbuffer.com/product/sheep-skin-seat-cushion/

I have a large one and she uses a medium. They fit the stock seat perfectly. One word of caution - we throw them in the tour pack at stops so they don’t walk…

i’ve also added the Kuryakyn pegs for her that have already been mentioned. These two additions have made a huge difference. Because of her size, I’m in the process of adding a midstep too.

    Good luck

Just saw this thread has been revived. Had forgotten all about it since last posting 4 years ago.

In the meantime we have done a video on Passenger Comfort on a Harley Trike.

Hopefully some of the info in it is useful-

I ride a Goldwing so I don’t know if it is the same as a Triglide since I’ve never ridden one. I’ve owned a 1997 and currently a 2017 and found both seats uncomfortable. I put a Hartco custom sheepskin seat cover on both and it was like night and day. Super comfortable and there is absolutely no sliding in the seat.

I am adding this for other new tri glide owners. just purchased my first trike near the end of summer, 2022. been riding two wheels all my life. last bike i traded in for this was an ultra classic. wife loves riding as a passenger. however, on the trike she felt like she was going to fall off, and even though she talked me into buying this because of my back and leg problem, she hated it and felt like she had to hold on to something at all times. the seat on the trike and the seating on the ultra are very close to the same, however we had a backrest on the ultra. i purchased the HD backrest and now she feels tucked in, and completely lost the feeling that she was going to fall off. Hope this helps someone else that will experience the same problem.

Sorry this is a little long.

I'm almost 68 and have been riding for 52 years on 2 wheels and just bought my first Tri Glide at the end of this summer, a 2016 with 3,400 miles.

Two tone gray and black, came with a stage 1, V&H exhaust system including head pipe. Fuelpak 3 and hi-flow a/c. I love this bike!

90% of our riding is two up and we average about 6,000-8,000 miles a year, always taking one long trip in the summer of about 6-8 days.

I will be doing the DK Customs lift kit and shocks over the winter.

We managed to put about 1,000 miles on the Tri Glide before winter set in.

Being our first trike, my wife is having some issues adapting to the ride.

I have the stock seat and when cornering, she feels like she's sliding left and right on the seat.

On two wheels there was no sliding as you know, you lean with the bike and stay stationary in the seat.

Her feeling is she's sitting "on" the seat, not "in" the seat, which is causing her to slide around.

For comfort with two wheels in the past, I've had Mean City Cycles adapt stock seats, I've also owned Ultimate seats and other after markets.

Does anyone have suggestions on a seat that she could sit "in to"?

One that might wrap up around her butt a little so she's not sliding back and forth, sitting into it, not on it.

    She's 5' 4" and about 125 lbs.

We both love to ride and I really want this trike to work out for "both" of us.

The seat issue is preventing my wife from buying in to the trike 100%

Any seat suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks, Steve
Just let her drive. Problem solved. Or get a non slide sear covering 😆
