    Default Vanderhall Guy

This seems like a great community. I work with the marketing arm of Vanderhall Motor Works in Provo, Utah. We are a small manufacturer of some really cool roadsters. I am happy to answer any questions I can for anyone on the forum. I probably have more miles in Vanderhall's than any other person out there and can't get enough. I come from an adventuresome background and look forward to participating in rallies throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Hello Daniel. Great to see you here at TT! That is one of the best Vanderhall videos yet. We have spoken in the the past and I have always been impressed by your knowledge and passion. We love our Laguna (first production model) and are proud to have it. You will be a superb asset to anyone interested in the Venice, Speedster, Carmel, Edison and any future models. Enjoy TT, it's a fun place to be. Will see you, pmar6004 and others at the 3 Wheeler Rally in SD! Also, thanks to Steve Hall for sharing his dream with us.

Daniel welcome aboard! Right now there are 3 different entries here for the Vanderhallmotorcycle. Maybe Randy will put them together? I for one has made several comments / questions and you are probably the one to give us the answers or at least explain why someone ordering a new vehicle has to buy accessories that should be options at the factory . I can't think of anyone wanting an extra interior, fenders or exhaust sitting in their garage collecting dust. An added charge for upgrades is one thing but buying items twice and paying labor twice just doesn't make a lot of sense to most of us! Also I as well as others would like to know/see photos of the Carmel without accessories and list the accessories and prices. Still haven't seen what the available top looks like? Tomg

Good post tomg, I too follow this thread, although I may never own one, but then I follow lots of threads out of curiosity, yes, even oil threads. I keep thinking, someone will discover that 'magic oil', and a magic way of changing the air filter on a Honda gl1800.

Hi Bill, I am a big fan of Vanderhall and love to spread the word. For Sandy and I it was a necessity to switch to this type of vehicle for physical comfort and to still have an open air experience. Very nice looking trike you have. What kind of oil have you found is best for you. I'm trying to figure out what to use in our Laguna.

Default Factory vs dealer install accessories

For now, the main reason we have a simplified ordering process is for that exact reason, simplification. So much goes into bringing a vehicle to market and that is compounded by the fact that each Vanderhall is handmade. Over time, as we expand, move into our new building and continue to expand our dealer network, our capabilities to have more factory-installed options will improve. Until then, dealer installed options continue to be extremely popular and enable us to streamline our product to market. We build blank canvas and the dealer finishes then to the consumer's specification.

As far as the roof for the Carmel, as soon as we are ready to release it will go out with fanfare.

Thanks on the white GW/Road Smith conversion compliment, the wife and I get lots of enjoyment from that sled. We have looked at the Spyder, touring version, but just can't justify that for a variety of reasons. Amazing that know so little about the Vanderhaul. As for my oil change, I'm a simple sort and go with the Shell Rotella T4 15/40 heavy duty diesel oil, in the gallon container, regular dino oil. There's also the full synthetic Shell Rotella T6 5/40, same description. I've used the Rotella T4 for years and change it every 5K to 6K miles, seems to work for me and it's affordable. I don't see the wisdom in full synthetic unless your driving a vehicle that says 'use it' with no options.

I've been watching Vanderhall for awhile now, as they seem to be better quality than the comparable Slingshot.

Plus they offer their ride with automatic transmission.

Not currently in the market for one, but hope they take off in popularity and prosper as a business going forward...
Isn't it weird that in AMERICA, our flag and our culture offend so many people...but our benefits don't???

I have used Mobil 1 since 1976! Your Vanderhall motorcycle has a Chevy motor, Corvettes use Mobile 1 as well as Mercedes! I also use it in my Stallion, 75k miles on it now. Tomg

Welcome to TT, Dan. Since my original posting on your Vanderhall Owners Forum, (Dec. 5th), where I wanted to see if there was any interest in the TrikeTalk (TT) Forum, amongst its members, I'm pleased to see a few VOF members such as Sandyken (Ken) and yourself, taking the time to check us out.

Like Tomg, I'm very much interested in the Carmel and have personally requested it be included as a unit that will be available for demo rides during the 2019 5th Annual Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally (July 9th - 14th).

Like many that are interested in the Vanderhall products, I'm from a state where there are no dealerships, although rumor has it that one might be considered for Sturgis. Thank you, for what I will consider, accepting my invitation to TT. I look forward to reading further post about your products and the interests they generate.

Why have we not heard anything from the Vanderhall guy? They were supposed to be in their new facility and starting production of the Carmel this month. Still nothing posted anywhere about it! Tomg

    Tomg,

Dan Boyer (Vanderhall Guy) just recently became a member of TT about a month ago, based off of an invitation from me. He doesn't frequent our forum as much as he does their forum, the Vanderhall Owners Forum: http://www.facebook.com/groups/1073317542800737/ I recently became a member of their forum to introduce their members to TT and to keep abreast of their newest model the Carmel, which I, like you, am very interested in. I'd recommend that you do the same as I if you want to ask a question or keep in touch with Dan. You'll get his response much quicker, IMHO.

Thanks but, I'm not a face book user. I might have to rethink that option though. I spoke with someone back in Sept at Vanderhallmotorcycle for about 30 minutes about more information and was told about the new facility and the Carmel. I as you, I advised them that TT was probably the largest website for trikers of all makes and models out there. He (I don't remember his name) supposedly wrote it down to look at the site.

I have been able to speak to a couple of people within Vanderhallmotorcycle which has made me feel better about the Carmel but, no prices I want to know about. I'm still amazed that the local dealers don't have the accessories and prices for the Carmel yet. For something that is going to be in production this month, one would think they would know what the accessories and prices would be so the dealers can get those orders in! Just my thoughts . Tomg

I'll see what I can find out from Dan on the Carmel, costs and what's standard and what are the options. They advertise the base price at just under $40K. I assume that you have checked out their website and read the specs on the Carmel. I believe it also shows a brief list as to what is standard equipment. Since production has yet to be announced, this might be a tentative listing. I've asked for a brochure, once they get some printed up. I'll report back, once I have further information.

I have all buy memorized the web site LOL But, there is that nasty little asterisk stating shown with options and other than the canvas top and after market a/c , they don't list any options. So what are the options I'm supposedly looking at? Longer exhaust , long fenders front and rear, 2 tone paint? Tomg

    Tomg,

I must ask you to be bit more patient, as I'm waiting for Daniel Boyer to respond to my earlier inquires (referring to my previous post). You're correct in a couple of your assumptions, as I'm sure the list of options will include: ac, special paint (Vanderhall Stripe Logo), black powered exhaust, removable ABS plastic roof top, all leather seats, longer fenders both front and rear, leather wrapped steering wheel, possibly paddle shifters (although I think they should be standard equipment), dashboard color options as well as chrome accents on gauges, special gauges, like how much boost the turbine is putting out and a gear indicator gauge 1 - 6, special wheel options, cruise control, (although I think it should be standard equipment).

These are but a few items that I think will be options. Like you, I have trouble with paying for something TWICE or having a bunch of takeoff items that will add to my already cluttered garage, like upgrading the wheels or the seats. Special consideration needs to be given to the customer when he/she purchases a new Vanderhall Carmel or any other model, when he/she wishes to upgrade at the time of sale, like getting a price discount on the upgrade. This will only work or make sense IF it is done at the time of the initial sale. These upgrades need to be performed by the manufacturer and not the dealerships for this to work, IMHO. Well that's my two cents, for what it's worth!

Thanks Paul, I appreciate you also trying to get prices made available as I have been. My latest conversation with Provo was that hopefully our questions will be answered by 1 Feb. This is really cutting it short for me as I have put together a Snowbird Get Together here in central Florida for 7 years and it's 3-8 March this year. We normally have 15 to 20 trikes riding together. Knowing that we will be riding up the coast to St Agustine and back, around the Daytona Beach area and inland as well, I would definitely be showing off a new Carmel if I'm lucky enough to get one by 1 March which would obviously spark interest for the display at the International Speedway during Bike Week!
