    Default Welcoming The Road Warriors...

From July 6th - 15th, the Road Warrior Foundation takes on the scenic west landscapes from San Diego, CA. to Deadwood, SD. for a Hero’s Welcome at the 5th Annual Deadwood 3-Wheeler Rally. On Saturday, July 14th, attendees to the Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally are invited to join me, for an informal, pre-welcoming of the members of the Road Warriors, as they arrive in Spearfish SD. Staging will occur at the DEC at 3:30 PM and departure will occur at 4:00 PM. We ride to Outdoors Motorsports in Spearfish, where we meet up with members of the Road Warriors. Shortly afterwards, we all leave for a trip through scenic Spearfish Canyon, with possible stops in route. Ultimately we'll arrive back at DEC for a formal welcoming by the D3WR. Teresa will ask for traffic assistance from the Spearfish PD, as there are two major intersections that we must pass through. I plan on leaving for home the following morning, Sunday, as a good number of others plan to do, so I won't have the opportunity to make the donation ride to Mt. Rushmore with the Road Warriors. If you're one of the others, particularly if you're a veteran as I am, I hope you will plan to fit this ride on Saturday afternoon, in your schedule. To learn more about the Road Warriors and their Foundation, here's a link to their website: http://www.roadwarrior.org

Default Latest Registration Map to the 2019 Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally

Teresa announced: Here is the latest Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally registration map that shows everyone that has pre-registered as of today July 5th. Walk-up registrations are welcome and we usually see about 15% or so do just that. We are busy putting the final touches on the event and everything seems to be falling into place.

This may be my last posting before the rally. Again I would like to thank all that have responded to my posts, particularly those that will be participants to my TT/T.O.I. Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon event.

Also a special thank you to Randy for providing me this forum, which enabled me to help promote the rally and get the word out to so many fellow trikers. To that end, I'm sincerely grateful. Have a safe trip to those that will soon be, "HEADING FOR THE HILLS"!

    Hi Gale,

I'm leaving tomorrow, Monday, as well. I'm trailering my trike as I did last year. I want to keep the mileage on the trike to a minimum as I have my trike listed for sale on the TT forum. Maybe you noticed my listing. I'd like to replace it with a Vanderhall Carmel. Hopefully one will be available to demo at the rally. Have a safe trip. See you soon!

I'm not attending this years rally, but I know many of you are either showing up today or tomorrow.

We have been in Spearfish 10 days and are leaving in the morning. Three of us (HD TGs) have pretty much done all the area rides at least once. Had several severe storms in the area with incidents of hail. Actually my 2018 car sustained between $15,000 and $18,000 in hail damage while here.

The only road construction that has been a pain was in Deadwood and on the Needles Highway. It doesn't look like they will be done with the mess in Deadwood anytime soon. Needles has new pavement finally and in the last few days we rode it twice. They still have to paint it but pavement is really nice.

Another side note about parking in Deadwood. Yesterday we pulled into one of their public lots. All the meters were pulled and gone. As we left the lot there was one small sign that mentioned paying inside the building. There were no signs about paying when you entered the lot or anything close to our parking space. As we walked across the street we began discussing it and decided maybe we missed something. I went back and sure enough there was a female officer just getting ready to write a parking ticket and put it on my trike.

We had a friendly exchange with me telling her the lot certainly was not well marked as a pay lot and with her saying she totally agreed and tearing up the ticket. She said they had only removed the meters a couple weeks ago and wanted to get another pay station outside in the lot so it would be more obvious. I suggested they simply post a large sign at the entrance stating it was a pay lot plus a few more signs within the lot.

Anyway, be aware of these changes to public lots in Deadwood because it might not be very clear.

Overall we had a great visit here as usual. Logged around 1,400 miles on these wonderful rides and camped with some really good friends.

Everyone have a good time at this years rally and be safe!

    Mike,

Unless others that attended the rally respond to your post, I'd recommend you go to the rally's website: www.d3wr.com. There you'll find numerous pictures of present and past rallies. It would be my recommendation that you attend the rally yourself and experience the event first hand. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The rally's website gives the dates for future rallies.

    Default Deadwood 2019

After 3150 miles in 10 days, from Central Arkansas/Deadwood/home again, we had a safe trip without any major problems. Good times, good weather (well, maybe WAY to hot for S. Dakota) and good friends.....here are some pics.....it is good to be home!

    O J,

Your pictures looked awfully familiar! And rightfully so, seeing as how we both make the Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally, right? I don't remember you saying you were going to attend. Maybe I missed your post(s) and if so, I'm sorry. The important thing is that you and party had a good time, made it home safely and yes, I agree it was quite warm in the Hills during the rally.

    O. J.,

Thanks for jogging my memory. I see that I responded to your post #35 (by my post #36) and invited you to attend my TT/T.O.I. Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon event. Most all TT members that responded to my invitation, with the exception of one, due to having mechanical issues with his trike, were in attendance. Since I didn't see you at my event, I didn't recall that you said that you planned to attend the rally. In any event, I'm glad you attended the rally and I hope you'll consider attending my event next year, as I hope and encourage others TT members to do as well. Ride Safe...!

We had a full schedule with all we wanted to see, so we passed on your luncheon. Would have been nice to meet so many TT friends at Deadwood, but this was my wife's first trip up there and she wanted to see EVERYTHING! We rode over 300 miles every day.....now I'm tired! That wears on an old big guy like myself.

Teresa Wrote: And We're Back!! We just finished up the final tally map for the 2019 D3WR and here it is! A big thanks to everyone who made their way to Deadwood for this event. Considering the crazy weather patterns this year we are thrilled so many were able to make it! Mark you calendars for next year's event that starts on Sunday, July 12 and ends the morning of July 17, 2020.

I would like a add a BIG thanks again to all TT members that participated in my TT/T.O.I. Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon event. Paul thank you very much for putting together the TT/TOI get together. I had a great time visiting with some of the other riders. I wish I could remember their names. The choice of roads to ride was great and the lunch venue was excellent. The ride was a great sub section to a really wonderful D3WR.

Paul, you're very welcome and glad that you enjoyed the event and the rally as a whole. I'm looking forward to the 6th Annual D3WR and renewing my many friendships, including yours, hopefully. Ride Safe and enjoy the remainder of your summer!
