    Rascal here trying figure out how to get more miles out of front tire, 20k and 2 tires later 05 1800 wing with CSC kit love it just eatin tires. In

    Well Greg... another member here with no advice on the tire. Just want to welcome you to TrikeTalk from west Texas!

    I have a 2008 GL1800 Motor Trike Adventure kit. I have the BT45 on front in forward position, pressured to 38-39#. Not having any wear problems.

    Have patience, its the holidays, but I’m sure you’ll get some feedback on this. These guys are good at trouble-shooting and tires are one of their favorite topics!

    Greg, tire cupping is one or more of the following; unbalanced wheel, under inflated tires, or possibly bad shocks causing unwanted bouncing.

    There are a multitude of threads on T/T that discuss your issue with front tire cupping.

    Many variables and many supposed solutions.

    One prominent solution is changing the OEM tire for one more resistant to cupping.

    "Cupping, which is more accurately described as scalloping (see pictures, but we will use the more common term "cupping" here), is a natural wear pattern on motorcycle tires and it will always follow the tread pattern. It is not a sign that you have bad suspension parts. It merely shows that your tire is indeed gripping the road when you make turns (thank you for that Mr. Tire!). "

    From my own experience, with a trike, running 41psi that someone, somewhere, posted a long time ago and most everyone followed suit, was a big contributor to my B45, reverse mounted tire cuppinng badly, along with a harsh front end! Next tire was run at 36psi w/no cupping and a much smoother front end!

    Welcome to the forum from western Pennsylvania I'm sure someone will have a fix for you....

    Tire pressure seems to be a major factor in tire wear and riding styles. Aggressive speed in turns accompanied by wrong air pressure could contribute to short tire life. Just sayin good luck with the tire issue. Merry Christmas Fred

    Welcome to the Gang from Western Colorado.

    As for the cupping ... I've always run 40 psi on the front wheel on the GL1800 as a two wheeler, On the trike, I let it go lower to 36 psi and seemed to be better.

    Wheel balance and steering head wear/wobble can also contribute to the problem.
