Question- Slingshot on MC group rides

Note that I am not wanting to "start something" in asking.

But a MC riding group I belong to had somebody ask if they could drive their Slingshot on one of the group rides. The group seems divided in their attitude. We do have trikes and Spyder's in the group and a custom built VW trike (1 seater).

MHO: While I think the Slingshot is a cool looking vehicle, it is very big compared to a MC trike - as big as a Mazda Miata (save for overall length - 4 inches diff.) And bigger than the VW trike. It may detract from the idea of a MC riding club.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this question to allow the Slingshot? (Or are people picking the fly feces out of the pepper?)

I have a Slingshot......And ' Me i wound't embarrass myself by driving it to/in a Motorcycle rally/ride... It is not a motorcycle no matter what your state registers it as...

It isn't practical mixed in a motorcycle ride....My Slingshot takes up just as much room in my garage as does my Wife's Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV..

I have a slingshot also and wouldn't even consider riding with a motorcycle group -- if i was "asked" to ride with them I would consider it --

What embarrass?

On the fence huh?

We have had folks ride their's at rear of group, just as ill or injured or healing folk have driven their 4 wheeler. I've done it when wife just wasn't up to riding. Never embarrassed me, just followed along with CB on … enjoying the time spent.

My Slingshot had 4 wheels..........

Then one day i parked it at wall-mart, And when i came out someone had stolen one wheel...:D...

Thats what happens when you park at walmart with a donut spare. You know they only drive 3 regular tires and one donut. And never ever park near a tricolor car. there's plenty of them over there and they're always doin somethin weird.

To me it makes zero difference what you ride or drive. But it would be the ride captains job to organize the riders/drivers for their safety as well as others. I've had to do this and it's simple. All bikes in front with trikes following them with autocycles following the trikes and cars follow them all and finally the sweeper or tailgunner. That's how I handle any escort I lead. No one is told they cannot be part of the group. This works for me but my tailgunner and I both have CB's to keep everyone as safe as possible. If a light breaks up the group, the lead slows down but does not stop until the back catches up. There is no running of traffic lights or blocking of intersections. We just do the best we can and the CB helps tremendously. I like someone with a CB somewhere in the middle but it's not always possible. But leaving someone out of the group just isn't considered. Now do I think these autocycles are car? Darn sure do and I will rib them all the time. But it's all in jest.

Years ago, I rode to work and back with a neighbor in an Isetta that had 3 wheels. It had one door that opened from the front. And that was "in this country", Tucson AZ to be exact.

Actually, if I remember. there were 4 .Back 2 were very close together. It was chain drive, 250 BMW motorcycle engine mounted in an Italian car. Had one back in the late 60's fun to drive. I should have kept that. Got it for about $100, now the same is a few thousand. lol
