Damaged inner wheel bearing seals #11353

seal seems too small in circumference and when inserting the axle i hits and damages the seal and will not pass through. Anyone have info or suggestions on how to install the seals and wheel bearings. A diagram or sketch? So far two bike shops have been unable to

fix the problem. It has been out of service since

nov 2027 . It is a 2008 Stallion # 377

It's not the seal, it's the outer edge of the axle. It needs to be slightly beveled on the outer edge so it slides thru the seal. Grease the axle before putting it in. This works, I know! Tomg

+1 on Tom's reply. if you take the take the whole assembly apart you will what Tom is talking about. Making sure that the axle is WELL lubed and smooth. Careful alignment will get it in.

To deal with the problem you have encountered, I had a dummy axle made which is exactly the length of the thickness of the wheel w/seals and bearings. I can assemble

the bearings and seals with the dummy axle in place, roll the wheel into position, then use the oem axle to push the dummy axle through.

Is this correct sequence and parts - inner seal cr 1135 - bearing 32006- race- seal national 470025. Starts with inner seal and works out.

So far damaged two inner seals trying to mount the wheel. Have ordered replacements again .

I think you have the sequence correct.

I just went through the same issue, destroying seals. I was able to get it together by putting the axle through the inner seal first, setting the hub / rotor on the wheel, then slide the other hub onto the axle. Once together, the axle will slide side to side to get it on the bike. With the axle through the inner seal first, you don't knock the spring off or tear the seal. Just grease the crap out of the axle first.
