On a side note, I'm impressed on the dyno results with your unit! Stock HP is more than I expected it to be; granted I'm not at all surprised at how the powerband "dropped off" prior to tuning. Most vehicles have something similar which is why they tend to wake up so much when you put a chip or tune in them.

Looking forward to seeing the overall drivability & day to day riding results over time!

    hello

I want to add 2 cents worth. Tbms sends a bunch of pcm's to roush with this spec , our application for use ford 2.3l 4x4 w/automatic transmission, so rousch looks up tune info for ford truck, they have worked with this vehicle before. they tune the engine for a 4x4 truck with some up grades for more hp. now all stallions have the same tune up which is shown in dyno first run, dyno operator buys license to up grade ford products, some have internet access up dates according to vin number. ok flash system remove all data or only some, set data into pcm, start and run vehicle set up what you want for specs(dyno run)

at this point you can play with tune, I have it just right now. flash system store data in pcm. now that you have license you can always tweak it later. if need be, second run dyno shows good results. as for the product Richard showed, these products return the original tune up specs as was flashed into memory to begin with. they help repair system but will not change tune up. probably did not explain this very well either.

I can't speak for the tuning part & the jailbreaking of the pcm (but it's how most tuners get access to avoid piggybacking a secondary controller). We never sent the pcm's to Roush, they were all programmed in our facility via the programmer that Roush provided (the black box mentioned in my earlier post). TBMS delivered a Stallion to the Roush R&D facility in Detroit so they could develop the intake/exhaust as well as tune the pcm and do any necessary testing. If I remember correctly, they had the vehicle for about 6 months (give or take).

I was one of the two staff members who delivered the Stallion to Roush & met Matt (no longer with Roush) who was in charge of the Stallion project. Matt was one of the leads on the Ford lightning project through their R&D facility.

I will say this, if you have the strings to pull in order to get access; taking a tour of the Roush R&D facility is an experience you won't soon forget! Unfortunately they do not allow any cameras or cell phones while being shown the R&D areas for obvious reasons. I did manage to sneak a few pictures inside the secure gate going into the R&D "parking lot". Most Ford GT's I've ever seen in any single place!

    good morning

nowhere in my rant yesterday did I say anything about frilling stealing? data has been available for all vehicles since they put data port in 1996. software is FREE to update the roush tune from their website. Richard you must have dyno data from when they developed the tune to begin with, can you share and we can compare with previous post.

    Dragon,

Probably a typo, but not sure what you mean on the frilling stealing? OBD port does give access to basic information, but custom tunes are typically "locked" and can't be changed unless you have a way of jailbreaking the computer to alter it. To the best of my knowledge we never had any dyno or specific tuning information from Roush, they simply provided us the plug in programmer for the pcm so that we could flash the pcm's to the parameters.

Also to clarify just in case I caused any confusion. Roush does not have the programming or tune information on the Stallion any longer. I can't tell you a time frame as to when they "did away" with the information but it's been at least a year since we were made aware that they didn't have the programming info anymore.

289 miles for breakfast this morning. Temperatures averaged from a low of 34 to a high of 58. The first tank going up and down the hills (small hills for us is up and down to 4000 feet) and around the twisties averaged 28.9mpg over 211 miles. The second fill up averaged 37.9 with the cruise on and set at 72mph for 78 miles with just little ups and downs. I'm happy. Rick

Hmm, I wish Arizona wasn't so far away.

Can you give us the contact number and shop name?

Keith is the person that did the tune. He used to be the owner, but sold the shop. He will come in and do Fords if you make arrangements through the shop.

I am having trouble getting to speak with Keith about tuning, I've called his number for about 3 weeks now but no answer. The new shop owner gave me his number which I only talked to him once since then but can't get him anymore. Has anyone else tried?

The best way to get a hold of him is to text him. He doesn't answer the phone unless your number is on his client list and comes up with a name on his phone. He does go to Mexico fishing quite a bit. Rick

Hi all, I found two shops that are willing to see if they can do a performance tune on my Stallion, hopefully I can get it done within the next two weeks.
