Happy new year everyone. I’m wanting to replace my H-D wired headsets with some better ones. I want to stay hard wired and am thinking of J&M Elite series or Edsets. They’re going into 3/4 helmets. Any input is appreciated.

Law Abiding Biker.Com has Harley Boom compatable 7 Pin Head Set Kits for Half Helmet & Helmetless riders. They also have Head Sets for 3/4, Modular & Full Face Helmets. I have the Half Helmet & Helmetless one which I used during warmer weather. Just placed another order the 3/4, Modular & Full Face Helmet Set for use with my similar styled helmets. I'm very pleased with the first set and have no reason to doubt that the performance of the 3/4, Modular & Full Face Helmet Set will be any less.

I've run J&M Elite series headsets for many years - almost 20 now. I can say from personal experience that they are much better than the standard ones from Harley. I have a significant hearing deficiency and tried a helmet with the current Harley headset about a year ago. I could barely hear as the volume even at max setting was just not sufficient. Not so with my J&M. I can hear very well at about 2/3 volume. And unlike the Harley headsets the cord will not fall out of the helmet. That is a constant problem with my riding friends who have the Harley headsets.
I have nothing but good things to say about J&M products and customer service. I had the Elite 787s in our 2 Shoei modular helmets. One was intermittent and I could never figure out why. I was beyond the 2-year warranty period when I contacted J&M with my issue. I returned the 787 to them for repair but before I did that I bought a new Elite 801 locally so I wouldn't be without one. J&M found nothing wrong with my returned 787 but based on my "poor" diagnosis that it was the mic, they replaced the mic and returned it to me all free of charge. I subsequently determined my problem was operator error with the volume controls. Shortly after that I purchased an Arai full face helmet and decided I would put the spare 787 in that helmet. Not wanting to start pulling apart my new helmet I decided to send the helmet and the 787 to J&M for installation. They contacted me and asked it I wanted to upgrade the mic on the 787 to one that is fixed inside the helmet rather than the current boom setup. I asked the cost and they said they would do the upgrade for free. I did have to pay to ship my helmet to J&M and I expected them to charge me to ship it back but they did not. I paid them for the installation of the 787 but the mic upgrade and the return shipping were free. I do really like the fixed mic in the modular helmet. That's my experience with J&M and I will definitely use them again should the need arise.
I found a "batch" of 4 of the older HD corded ones on eBay awhile back (2years maybe). They were like $90 a piece and where better quality that the newer ones ... I too have hearing issues ... aides and all ... and the older ones have lots more volume than the newer models.
I bought my first J&M headset directly from J&M but since then it's always been through Sierra Electronics https://www.sierra-mc.com/
As an authorized independent dealer Sierra can and does discount whereas J&M does not discount since they don't want to compete with their other dealers who do not discount. I've purchased several helmets from Sierra and they also install the headsets and have given me excellent customer service.
Like many others who were very skeptical of IMC's 7 Pin Headsets, especially offered with a price tag of $85. We just couldn't embrace the notion that a headset that was so affordable, wasn't also cheaply made and we might receive something cheep with crappy audio performance, and a complete waste of money. Those of us who actually took the leap of faith were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the product and overall audio performance. We know that there are other boutique products out there costing two and half times more, just very hard for us to believe that they're providing two and half times better quality and performance. Course, my use is only limited to an IMC Headset. Would be nice to have an actual comparison.
The bottom line is, if each of us are satisfied with our choices, then little else should matter afterwards. Wish ya the best!

Sierra's listed prices are less than Law Abiding Bikers (LAB). However, Sierra's out-the-door price is only a tad more when Shipping Cost is added. LAB has free ship....that's a game changer for me. You'll get a good product regardless of the seller.
