Default What did you do to your Freewheeler Exhaust....

Well? What did you do and why did you do it?

Mine is a stock head pipe and catalytic converter with 4" slip on Screaming Eagle Cannons. Why is because that was part of a dealer Stage I kit and I did not explore options beyond that. It will likely change when I figure out Engine Upgrades

    What do you have?

    Let the posting begin......

I purchased my 2015 used, with V&H Monster Rounds. They look pretty good and I wanted to keep them. They had a nice deep rumble, but way too quiet for me. First, I removed the packing around the baffles. Next, I got rid of the cat (stock head pipe). Sounds pretty sweet now.

I will most likely end up being the only FW M8 owner with a stock exhaust.

Just my K&N air filter in the stock box and external breather made a noticeable improvement that I'm very happy with.

You're wise to leave well enough alone. M8s are so strong even in stock form. Seems my philosophy has always been "If it ain't broke, just keep fixin it till it is". Also, good to hear your clutch is performing well.

    Default Muffler swap

Wanting a better sound and didn't want to modify my stock mufflers - So,I plan to put a pair of 3.5" Slip-ons with 2" diameter full length cores on mine this week - I'm running stock header with CAT - I will post the results

    Default 3.5 Mufflers

Got them put on - Those rear hanger bolts where tough - Anyway , took it out for a ride and I'm pleased with the deep rumble tone it now has - Not much louder ,just a better tone ,especially at low speeds - These aftermarket tubes have the louvered cores - No popping or high pitched sounds on deceleration either - Very happy with the upgrade

Nice! What brand/Type slip-ons did you use?

    Default Slip-Ons

I bought them used at a swap meet ,They are aftermarket an supposed to have came off a Street Glide - They have no markings as to manufacture - Price was cheap ( $ 60 bucks ) - Worth every penny in my book - Minor scuffs are under the trike anyway

Awesome. Glad they worked out. I have built whole bike out of swap meet parts.

3.5in Rinehardts. Love them, not the same sounds as the 4in Rinehardts I had on my 15 but still sounds good.

On my 2015 FW I de-catted the head pipe and put on Cobra 909 slip on mufflers. Have DK Customs air cleaner and external breather, Power Vision Tuner and Mighty Mite Love Jugs. Bike runs strong and cool. Cobras sound good under acceleration and run down but not too loud at highway speed.

Nice. I pulled the cat and put the Cobra Pro-Chamber pipes on mine with SVT boneshakers and I also used DK's HiFlow 606 with the catch can EBS... if you have seen my whining posts..... I have not heard my bike since November... Waiting for paint. Looking forward to hearing it and seeing if it has a similar sound profile to yours

    Default V&h monster rounds

Back in February, I mentioned removing the packing for a better sound. Recently, I modified the baffles and really increased the sound level. This was a simple mod that retained the baffles. I also installed DK's TTIs in the 1-3/4" inlet snout. It created a deep sound, pretty loud at idle and on acceleration but very civilized at highway speeds. Kevin may explain that the TTIs weren't designed to be mounted in the inlet, but it works really well all the way through the RPM range. I know that not too many are running these slip-ons, but if anyone is interested, I will be glad to share the details.

Actually did this last week. Installed Street Canons that a younger brother laid on me. Not loud enough for him. They even have the slash tips I like. Did the airbox mod per Stric9(sic) on YouTube. Got a donor air cleaner from my dealer- they got plenty takeoffs laying around. Put a K&N 1717 in there. Added the almost useless Pro Street Tuner and down loaded a canned map. Just to keep the warranty. I'd love to report huge horsepower and torque gains but- nah. Maybe added a few horsepower. What I did notice is that idle is smoother and something weird. Instead of 6 revolutions of the starter to turn over now it takes just four. But then again that could be due to the phase of the moon for all I know. The pipes sound good, not to loud as I leave the neighborhood around midnight but they open up when I get on it. It's still hot here so I prefer night riding till sunup.
